CNN: Saddam Yes, USA No
The US restarted Iraqi TV last Thursday with Arabic-subtitled evening newscasts from ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, and PBS. CNN refused to participate. "As an independent, global news organization, we did not think it was appropriate to participate in a U.S. government transmission," spokeswoman Christa Robinson said. (Washington Post). But on at least one occasion, CNN offered Saddam Hussein a full hour on their worldwide network--with no interruption or commercials--to coincide with President Clinton's inauguration. (Washington Times). Conclusion? CNN only has problems with U.S. government transmissions. Posted By Clyde at April 15, 2003 08:45 PM | TrackBackComments
