An interview in Editor & Publisher with Chris Hedges, the veteran journalist who has covered over a dozen conflicts around the globe. Posted By Oskar van Rijswijk at April 5, 2003 11:50 AM | TrackBackComments
Hedges point about the lack of interviews with Iraqi civilians is telling, much of the real story lies with them. only they say what living under Ba'ath party rule is really like. Posted by: aYk at April 5, 2003 01:30 PMWith embedded journalist reporting directly from the front we can now 'enjoy' the real war lying in our beds! What progress humanity. Bush can deside which leader is to be removed to 'free' his people from his misrule and send his forces to create shock and awe for the people and the rulers to be followed by appointing his own 'Viceroy' until the people learn to behave as he should in the interest of security and progress of USA whose needs for energy has to be met. After all it is a unipower world and one must learn to live in it and enjoy embedded reporting from all fronts during war (and peace to be maintained in a world as per the order defined by USA). No doubt we loved the straight forward american but now we see him as arrogant. Yes we need his help but now we see him as an intruder in our homes. We appeal to these embedded journalist to become really free and tell the american rulers the truth of how they are seen by the rest of the world. Posted by: abmehta at April 6, 2003 04:43 AMNow that Pres Bush has removed Saddam's Govt thru the process of shock, awe and destruction of most of the important structures as well as loss of life and valuable historical evidences, he should be magnanimous to involve the world community and the people of Iraq (Sunnies, shias and kurds)to decide their future. This should include the type of Govt, who should take up the reconstruction of the country and how to settle their financial problems in the best interests of their people. This may restore some of the regards the people all over the world have for the American people. Posted by: abmehta at April 20, 2003 11:55 AMPost a comment
