Michael Kelly and Lance Cpl. Anderson

Man, I'm really sorry that Michael Kelly died today in Iraq. He was an excellent writer, editor and conservative voice. I think the comments on the front page are a testament to his abilities.

That said, he is one of at least 61 casualties of this war. He died in the line of duty: his duty. His death is no more of a tragedy than the deaths of any of the other coalition forces involved in this fight. Each soldier had family. Each family has lost a loved one. Who's to say that some of those soldiers could not have been just as accomplished as Kelly was? We'll never know.

That said, I think we could all take a few moments of silence for these who also died:
From the Associated Press through the DoD.

what is your point here, that Kelly should not be recognised for what he achieved or that soldiers should be recognised for what they didn't? or is it that everyone should be treated identically in which case do you include he innocent civilians and Iraqi soldiers too?

No, I think his point is that *every* soldier's death should be placed "above the fold", not just journalists Michael Kelly's. This list is not making Kelly's death insignificant, to the contrary, it's making the point that all of these people volunteered to serve the people of the United States in some significant fashion.

Nice job, Bryan.
