Ghosts of Bataan
Listening to the tales of Iraqi torture during the first Gulf War and watching the tape of their treatment of our troops today I can't help but be reminded of the horrific treatment Americans (and others) received at the hands of Imperial Japanese forces during the Second World War. Americans were rightly shocked when formerly strong young men returned home weighing less than 100 pounds after their mistreatment. A government that does this has no place at the family of nations. Iraq, it's well known, treats its minority populations with a brutality approaching that of Nazi Germany. We now know the Hussein administration also mimics the worst traits of our Pacific opponent as well. There can be no satisfactory outcome for us and the Iraqi people other than total victory.
