THE HINDU: Putin rules out talks with Chechen rebels

Blaming Chechen leaders for the Moscow metro train blast that left about 40 people dead and over 120 injured, Russian President Vladimir Putin, today ruled out talks with the "terrorists". "Russia does not hold talks with the terrorists, it destroys them," Putin declared at a Kremlin news conference.

Bookmark this story and keep it handy the next time the Israelis blow up a Hamas or Islamic Jihad leader and the Russians balk about "heavy-handed tactics" at the United Nations.

If Putin knew where he could build a wall to keep out Chechen rebels, he'd build one for protection and two as a works program to keep the Russian Mafia busy.

I have a deep preminition that Bush's liking for Putin will go down as one of the strangest miscalculations in recent history. I dont trust the man as far as I can punt him (Putin, not Bush ;))

On the other hand, maybe Bush is just pulling a Michael Corleone, keep your friends close keep your enemies closer. If that's the case the man is a strategic genius of the highest order and anyone who has spent 4 years calling him an idiot should examine their own IQ scores. We shall see.

Yes mark,

All strategic geniuses have problems eating pretzels....

we are all lucky if he can even spell Putin.....

How can you look at the Bush record in Texas and his business dealings and call the man a genius?

Beer goggles?

The fact that you even flirt with the idea of this mans IQ fascinates me.

what2,

Your ability to immediately dismiss an idea, one which you have no firsthand knowledge of, fascinates me as well. It makes me wonder how many other ideas you have dismissed offhand, and how credible your opinions are.

What does strategy have to do with eating pretzels? I'm curious, since that is the lead-in to your argument, it must be important. Did I miss a metaphor? I mean, Stephen Hawking can't eat a pretzel on his own, yet is widely considered to be a genius...

Alex, you are an idiot. Hawking in the same sentence as Bush?

You guys are too much. If you cant understand what I am getting at then you are truly screwed. Last time I checked Hawking had a real disease. Bush on the other hand is just inept and dull as a rock. That is your disconnect you simpleton. I hope you were joking.

The GOP is so sad...you guys have a total moron in the White House and you defend the guy? He choked on a freakin pretzel, snorted coke, is an idiot in corporate america, cant speak English. He is a moron with a name and connections. Bush can be summarized as a fortunate yet dim witted son. He has been given the benefit of the doubt all his life w/o earning a damn thing.

This is no genius this is a freakin moron!!! I still cannot figure why your party cannot just accept that he is dumb as shit. Clinton was sure as hell horny! Bush is dumb. Live with it.

Bush will go off into the sunset and into the DUSTBIN of history where his sorry arse belongs come November. Thank God!

OXFORD AT THE AGE OF 17 NOT SNORTING COKE AT THE AGE OF 30!!! Pathetic....truly pathetic....

I can't understand what you are getting at because all I read are "ad hominem" attacks.

Perhaps if you were to craft a structured argument, I could understand better.

Until then, I guess I will have to join Alex in the "truly screwed" category.

Thanks,

MG

Ah, Bush Derangement Syndrome rears its ugly head again.

Go on, "what2", keep screeching.

Posted by: Patrick Chester at February 6, 2004 08:53 PM

What2 you need to calm down a little. You come across as, like, deranged or something. Calling people freakin' morons, dim witted and idiots when they clearly are not does your argument no good at all. How will that convince us of the wisdom of your words?
I never heard Clinton give as stirring a speech as Bush has. Of course that's just a personal opinion although I did admire Clinton until I realised he was all charm and no spine. Clinton conquered Monica. Bush conquered Kabul and Baghdad - how will history compare the two? Time will tell.
I fall into the "truly screwed" camp as well I guess although I hesitate to use that term in case it conjures more unsavoury images in your mind What2.
I have reliably had my IQ tested at around 135 but I did choke on a pickled onion once. Guess those tests are a load of rubbish really.

Posted by: AngloAmerikan at February 7, 2004 01:48 PM

Ok. Anyone that chokes on anything at anytime in their life is a complete and utter moron. We'll see what what2 is choking on when Bush wins the White House again. Not bad for a moron, eh?
