European theory on why we are at war?
I was just emailing a friend of mine in Austria, and she had asked me if we (the US) know why Europe thinks we "really" went to war with Iraq. A little digging around found an article similar to what she was explaining to me. The Real But Unspoken Full Story From Independent Media Center Comments
How convienient for the writer of this article to ignore the UN resolutions, the WMD programs, the obvious ties between Saddam and terrorists. It's so funny when people who want to argue against the war consistently ignore the facts.. Is there some concern that moving to a Euro market for oil might hurt the US? There could be. Does that make all the other issues irrelevant? Of course not. Posted by: mojoski at April 1, 2003 10:06 AM Also funny that this "information" has been "suppressed" in the US. This is the theory of the majority of the protestors, as far as I can see--it gets heard a lot & is very very tedious! Posted by: observer at April 1, 2003 10:15 AM Heh. For a glimpse of what that source is really about, check out their home page. I doubt like heck that this is what Europe thinks. Posted by: DSmith at April 1, 2003 10:54 AM Austrians know all about supressed government conspriacies. ask them about the recently re-elected neo Nazi FPÖ party whose leader regularly visits Saddam to arrange business deals, or the supplies of military equipment to the Syrians. ps Austrian airspace remains closed to USAF Posted by: angrYkook at April 1, 2003 11:14 AM For a full and complete debunking of this nonsense look at the following piece by a very good investment advisor and financial consultant. The currency reason is just pure nonsense only believeable by those with no knowledge of how markets work. http://www.frontlinethoughts.com/printarticle.asp?id=mwo032803 Posted by: charley at April 1, 2003 03:32 PM The investment advisor is right, this switch is of clerical interest only and has no kind of effect on the market values. And while we're at it, if oil-producing countries WERE somehow able to manipulate the value of the USD, they would want it to go UP in value, because then we'd tend to buy more oil - no small consideration, since we're the biggest oil importer.
