Pakistan News Op Ed Piece
One has to wonder what could the world have done to avoid the conflicts leading up to the war? What could we as civilized world we claim to be, could have done to prevent the Iraq war. Once that the war has been unleashed what can be done to bring a halt to this unfolding human tragedy? The United Nations, once an instrument of hope for the future, an organization meant to prevent future wars, continues to debate relentlessly without making any realistic impact on the situation. The U.N. may have lost credibility in the eyes of Americans because it did not rubber stamp an authorization to launch a war. On the other side, in the eyes of the other nations, the U.N. lost credibility by not preventing a war on Iraq. Posted By Sean Kirby at April 1, 2003 08:28 AM | TrackBackComments
How many wars has the UN failed to prevent during its fifty or so years of existance, more than a hundred at least. Posted by: angrYkook at April 1, 2003 11:32 AM Stand up small countries of the world. Let us know you're real defensive military strategies. Portugal and Singapore have already let it slip: Our military strategy is stall an invader wait for the US to rescue us. Whose military strategy is "stall an invader, wait for the UN"? Um...No one. It might surpise media liberals that other countries actually have militaries and defense strategies, but they do. And most depend on the US. How many depend on the French?
