South Korean Naval Vessels Fire Warning Shots at NK Boats
For the love of God, not this again: Korea Times South Korea yesterday fired shots at North Korean fishing boats which violated the Northern Limit Line (NLL) yesterday, the latest in nearly a dozen cases of border violation by the North’s vessels lately, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said yesterday.Posted by rjkoehler at June 1, 2003 09:27 AM Comments
I would of sunk those shits... of course, I probably would have started WW3 by now too... But boy oh boy would I make Command-Post popular. Posted by: Original Mark at June 2, 2003 01:53 PMHow can one distinguish between a fishing boat and a spy ship or mockup? Remember everything up there belongs to the government, being communist and all... They sound to me like good names for some rap or hip-hop group. Curious. Posted by: Dave Dubé at June 3, 2003 09:37 AMhiaku dubay picks on those ;0) Posted by: devils chewtoy at June 3, 2003 11:26 AMdevils chewtoy, I inferred that Lee knew something that I do not. I know it's early, and that I can be 'picky', but... I'm sorry. I have no clue who Puppet Fat is. Of course that could depend on what is is, as well... I ain't lettin' any demons chew on my ass, either. Do you know who Hungry Dogs is or are? The other thing I'm curious about here: Whales of the Ocean. There is just so much symbolism here, I'm freakin' overwhelmed. Aren't you curious? ;-) I'm serious here. Maybe we have a DPRK blogger who is yearning to be free. Sortalike a Cap'n Ahab, if you get my meanin'. What is the sound of one hand clapping, grasshopper? ;O) Posted by: devils chewtoy at June 3, 2003 03:28 PMIf you believe Doonesbury, *all* of Chinese-dominated politics is carried on behind colorful metaphors, Dave. IOW, if Young comes back to this page, he's in for some culture shock. Posted by: TBox at June 5, 2003 04:48 PMAn attempted dissection. With the understanding that I could be 100% wrong, I believe that Puppet Fat (assuming Young is an actual native, and not a clever impersonator, I will take this time to correct his English -- it should probably be "Fat Puppet." But what do I know of metaphor?) refers to South Korea -- wealthy, yet under the thumb of the USA (or so the metaphor implies.) Hungry Dogs would, of course, then refer to North Korea -- starving, rabid, ready to strike. Whales of the Ocean? Um... is there a profitable fishing industry in Korea? Or maybe it's a reference to the economy as a whole, as whaling *used* to be big. OTOH, whaling has also been deemed immoral for a few decades... I think it is suggesting that North Korea and South Korea fight to see who can be more corrupt and/or morally bankrupt. Posted by: TBox at June 5, 2003 04:52 PMWith the implication being, of course, that the concerned Korean should ignore posturing and start looking at the real issues. Those real issues are whatever Young happens to be pushing. Don't know, really. Damn metaphors. Posted by: TBox at June 5, 2003 04:55 PMFolks, I only spent a year on R&R over there (VN) in the not so distant past, so I've lost my edge. What is the sound of one hand clapping, grasshopper? FAP FAP FAP...
