North Korea threatens South with Disaster
Not just any old Disaster, but "Unimaginable Disaster". From the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) This time the threat came from North Korea's powerful Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, a cabinet-level organisation handling relations with South Korea.Posted by Alan Brain at May 26, 2003 04:57 AM Comments
Hmmm... must be some strange new meaning of the word "Peaceful" I'm not familiar with. Posted by: Alan E Brain at May 26, 2003 04:58 AMWhy shouldn't the North threaten the South? Everytime they do, Seoul pays up. The South had a chance to put an end to this nonsense last weekend, but true to form, they folded. As long as Seoul continues to respond to such threats by giving rice, there's no reason for the North to change its behavior. The North is also playing to certain segments of the South Korean population as well when they make those kinds of threats, especially when they're accompanied by accusations of "collaboration" with foreigners. Posted by: The Marmot at May 26, 2003 05:07 AMIt's about time America and the South start responding by threatening the North with unimaginable disaster. If anyone is able to wreck such a thing on another country, it's the US. Take it to the brink and watch that bastard Kim Dong shit his pants, like all bullies do when resolutely confronted. Posted by: Byron at May 26, 2003 07:21 AMIf this rhetoric wasn't so... laughable? .... it would be, well... LAUGHABLE. Komical Kim's finest at their finest. They could use a whole pile of NEW superlatives. ANy suggestions? Posted by: Dave Dube at May 26, 2003 10:02 AMThe problem is that the North is already an unimaginable disaster. Nuclear deterence only works if you care somewhat about the people that are going to get killed, and the North sure doesn't seem to. Ten to one, the ruling elite and their families are perfectly safe in bunkers. Of course, that won't save them, when worse comes to worse, but we've already seen with Saddam that that doesn't necessarily matter. Posted by: Pawel at May 26, 2003 05:18 PMNeverending festering sore? Posted by: TangoEchoXray at May 26, 2003 05:19 PMIsn't it hard to imagine unimaginable disaster? From The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland? Orwell was right. This is truly 1984 come to pass. Posted by: KenG at May 27, 2003 03:19 AMPost a comment
