Dutch Cabinet 'declares war' on Islamic extremism

Expatica reports:

The Dutch Cabinet has declared war on Islamic extremism, Deputy Prime Minister Gerrit Zalm has announced. He justified the step by calling the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh an “attack on the rule of law”. Zalm said on Friday that there had been new developments in the world of Islamic extremism in which religious thoughts were being “translated into murder and manslaughter”. “This is something that we absolutely cannot tolerate,” he said. The Liberal Party (VVD) minister said the cabinet would therefore expand the Dutch intelligence service AIVD, requiring an increase in funding. Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner and Interior Minister John Remkes will provide further information to the Dutch Parliament next week. The cabinet is also investigating whether existing legislation is sufficient to tackle radical Muslims who commit violent offences.

Expatica also summarizes news about the murderer Mohammed B.:

A second-generation Moroccan immigrant youths are being targeted by Islamic extremists who hope to recruit them for Jihad, or holy war. One of the characteristics of the recruiters is that they isolate youths from their family and friends. There was nothing out of the ordinary with Mohammed B. until he allegedly fell into the hands of extremists.

Part of this news are rumours about a terror hit list in The Netherlands.
