Police to focus on J'lem security once Arafat dies

JERUSALEM POST: Police to focus on J'lem security once Arafat dies

Police have prepared a plan for day-after-Yasser-Arafat called "A Different Reality," and once there is an official announcement that Arafat has died, police said, the country will go on heightened alert.

Police will immediately begin to beef up forces in conjunction with the IDF at junctions and entrances to cities throughout the country, with an emphasis on Jerusalem and its surroundings.

One of the police's biggest fears is the possibility that thousands of Palestinians will grab Arafat's body and will begin marching towards Jerusalem for burial on the Temple Mount. Last week, Insp.-Gen. Moshe Karadi dismissed warnings that Palestinians will march their leader's body to the capital, saying that Israel is ready for all possible scenarios.

22:34 Arafat aide Nabil Abu Rudeinah: Should Arafat die in the coming hours, there will be an official funeral in Cairo on Fri.

UPDATE:
This has got to be an old quote:

Edward Abington, a former U.S. consul-general in Jerusalem who advises Arafat and other Palestinian leaders, described Arafat's medical condition as "pretty static." "People are waiting to see what happens," Abington said.

Even Abington, the poster child for "going native" in Webster's, isn't that out-of-touch and dense.

UPDATE:
Report: Experts say that doctors probably know what is wrong with Arafat by now, but they aren't being allowed to say what it is.

Arafat died tonight. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Palestinian terrorism died with him?

Can't the Palestinians, and all of the Islamofascist terrorists, see that their intifadas and terrorist attacks are backfiring on them? Israel is not going to go away. The U.S. is not going to be overthrown.

It is time for a new leader to rise up in Palestine and establish a state of Palestine that chooses to coexist with Israel.

I am so glad that Bush chose to ignore Arafat's stupid, deceitful games over the last four years. Arafat dies a collosal failure. His last intifada failed, he failed, the world is better for his failures. May God rest his wounded soul.
