HAARETZ: Arabs shock Europeans, refuse to condemn anti-Semitism

At a closed meeting held recently in New York, UN ambassadors from Arab and EU countries met and the Arabs made clear that they do not accept the initiative for the UN General Assembly to condemn anti-Semitism.

The blunt language used by the Arabs describing their opposition, and their plans to use diplomatic means to prevent the resolution from reaching a vote, shocked the Europeans, said a UN source.

According to UN sources, the Arab delegates were also critical of a UN seminar on anti-Semitism held last month. A senior Western diplomat said that among the Arabs who spoke with the Europeans was PLO observer Nasser al Kidwe, and he was particularly outspoken in his objections to a UN General Assembly resolution on anti-Semitism.

The source said Kidwe attacked the content of UN Secretary general Koffi Anan's speech to the seminar last month, particularly Annan's pride in the cancelation of the 1975 Zionism equals racism resolution. "The Europeans were depressed when they left the meeting," said the source.

Jordanian Ambassador to the UN Prince Ziad Hussein argued that the resolution would reinforce the tendency to call any criticism of Israel, anti-Semitic. Moroccan Ambassador Mohammed Banone, said that the seminar against anti-Semitism was a terrible idea and a decision would only divide the world body. Arab League Ambassador Mahamas Hani warned that a UN resolution condemning anti-Semitism would have a negative impact on the Middle East.

Islam's Satanic control is showing. Satan's Evil has always controlled Islam. Now the Europeans are finding it out.

The world body is already divided by the choice of the muslims to stand aloof from the rest of the non-muslim world. The rest of the world simply chooses not to accept dhimmitude.

Only the Euroweasels could be surprised by this. Thank God the UK is an island, because the entire continent is suffering from a collective delusional idiocy that makes even our circle jerk government look good by comparison.

..this should be "the shot that was heard around the world".Fat chance, these appeasers will look for someone to blame((one guess)) instead of coming to the rational realization these folks will not live side-by-side with Israel. This mindset should be a revelation to the world of the hate these people have...but these elitist never will until the day their dead....

The sad part about this is that the arabs have already shown a disturbing genocidal trend against groups other than the Jews. Look at the Sudan, and the slave-like conditions of foerign labor in Saudi Arabia.

I've had my eyes pried open to this problem since I spent some time in Saudi as a US Marine, and its not pretty.

Saudis are the Main Problem. They are Wahabi.

From the Inside.... A Saudi Society Horror Story

What I really find interesting is the whole notion of dividing the UN. This is just like the democrats in the good ole US of A who spew hatred and then blame Bush for somehow dividing us.

So by this logic the UN should avoid doing anything even a tiny bit controversial for fear of dividing itself. That's the absence of leadership no doubt about it.

How will the Europeans react? I'm seeing mixed messages here. On the one hand anti semitism seems to be on the rise in Europe. On the other hand, Germany and other EU nations have threatened to cut off funding for the PA unless changes are made.

it is possible that the EU will wake up one day to the enemy in thier midst. I doubt this will happen as long as Schroeder and Chirac are in power, but I think they're days are numbered.

This is a really interesting development, and I hope that the rest of the looney left kumbaya singers get exposed to this piece of news. It clearly shows what many of us have been saying for years: there's no way to make peace with these people, they're not interested in that. There's no peace process in the mind of the Arabs that doesn't include the elimination of Israel.

Shock? Or is it Awe?

I wonder how the appeasement method will work for the euroweasels in this case. I wonder if UN will condemn member Arab states for not condemning anti-semitism. I wonder if Sharon was right to say it is safer for Jews in Israel (with the wall up it certainly lends credence to his assertion) then in Europe. I wonder if we can expect Germany, Spain and France to join Arab League soon based on the makeup of their population? I wonder a lot... and wait to hear how euroweasels respond.

Hard to add anything to that. Nice turn of phrase, TL. :)

Welcome, socialist Europe, to the hard realities of funamentalist Islam.

Have a glass of punch.

Saddest of all is the Moroccan ambassador's statement.

In WWII when Hitler asked the Sultan of French (Vichy-controlled) Morocco to turn over its Jews, the Sultan replied that in Morocco there were only Moroccans.

Poor, sad, Morocco, once so noble.

I think this is a mistake by the Arabs, but I know that the anti-Semitic label does get thrown around pretty freely against anyone who opposes Israel's actions. I suspect that if the resolution were a slap at anti-Arab or anti-Mulism sentiment, the Israelis might be equally opposed for the same reason. I definitely know it would be opposed by many who post on this blog, who spew the latter unabashedly.

The dictionary definition of a "Semite" is as follows: A member of a group of Semitic-speaking peoples of the Near East and northern Africa, including ARABS, Ethiopians, Hebrews and Phoenicians. Isn't it interesting that those who refuse to oppose Anti-Semitism are Semites themselves.

This is Jealously and hatred going back over 5,000 years when Isaac, son of Sara, was Abraham's favored heir.
