This is a new phenomenon and a little worrying. The fundamentalists believe that their "innocent" victims are martyrs to their cause. This is quite grotesque as it removes all the guilt from their murdering agents. They believe the victims will receive the same rewards as they will when they enter paradise. They are essentially doing their victims a favour by killing them.

Can an innocent jogger killed in cold blood be posthumously declared a "martyr" ? Would he receive full benefits, that is to say the 72 black eyed virgins ? What about the hair on his body ? No Muslim can touch the hair of a dead person, and no martyr can enter into paradise with hair on his body, so who can prepare the body for paradise ? Big problem here. I think a religious ruling is needed.

Actually, the virgins legend comes from a mis-translation of the Koran. The real words, in Aramaic dialect of the time show that the meaning is actually white grapes will be given. No joke.
