Protests Rock Iran
From a Blog Iran email: Thousands of Iranians seized, this evening and for the 2nd consecutive night, the religious ritual of Ashura in order to come into the streets and to show their rejection of the theocratic regime. For more news on this, keep checking with Activist Chat. Posted by Michele at March 2, 2004 09:57 PM | TrackBackComments

Posted by: babak at March 2, 2004 10:54 PM lets hope this will lead to the downfall of those mullahs. (one can hope) Posted by: shirin at March 2, 2004 11:02 PM These protests happen almost daily, but no media coverage is given and many times protestors are killed, beaten, arrested - or a combination of those.. Posted by: Dariush at March 3, 2004 12:00 AM Of course you don't hear about it in the media. The Iranian people are begging for us to come in and save them. You can't let that sort of info get out...
Posted by: eric at March 3, 2004 12:33 AM Yah - well at least some know the truth... Good point Eric! Posted by: Dariush at March 3, 2004 12:39 AM Something extraordinary is about to happen in Iran. Stay tuned and pray its not too bloody. Posted by: Mark Buehner at March 3, 2004 01:39 AM Just remember, its up to the people to decide their government - democracy cannot be imposed from outside! Noam Chomsky tells me so! Posted by: tagryn at March 3, 2004 10:35 AM I saw this report initially on the Iranian students website which offers often precise news. They've published more in reference to these riots and I invite all of you to check it at:

Posted by: Dariush at March 3, 2004 03:26 PM Dariush wants a free and democratic Iran. On that I agree with him, and hope it comes to fruition soon.
Posted by: Redneck Texan at March 3, 2004 08:04 PM CORRECTION: I never said I want a Free Iran to have nuclear power.. I said a FREE IRAN that had nuclear power would not be a threat at all.. Second of all - to call Iran a MUSLIM country without really understanding Iranian culture and dynamics is a big mistake.. Third of all - the issue is not about whether or not the future free iran will have nuclear power/capabilities - quesiton is, how d you get rid of the MULLAHS NOW - Posted by: Dariush at March 3, 2004 10:07 PM Dariush, I am not properly armed to argue with you about Persian History, but I believe the average American would prefer an unarmed brutal dictatorship, in Iran to a Nuclear Armed Unstable Democracy, that like Pakistan cant guarantee Command & Control of these Weapons.
Posted by: Redneck Texan at March 3, 2004 10:47 PM Redneck, I understand some of your points, but you're acting as though the Resistance movement has made some statement or policy regarding Nukes and they haven't -- they could care less about Nuclear anything and more about freedom, human rights and having a goverment that respects it's 70 million citizens and works to improve economy and relations with the world.. I'm sorry Redneck, but the Mullahs in Iran, whether you think so or not, are 1000000 X more dangerous than Saddam ever was and they are still in power.. It's time to take them out and support the people - otherwise, the world is really fucked.. Posted by: Dariush at March 4, 2004 11:00 AM Dariush, Please don't misinterpret my concerns as be "Pro Mullah". I agree the Ayatollah and his like minded cronies, are very dangerous ideologically and their support for terrorism abroad is legendary. They need to be overthrown.
