North Korea Proposes to Stop Nuke Program
North Korea on Thursday proposed "the comprehensive stopping of nuclear activities," a Chinese government spokesman said. He said the details were still being discussed among the six nations meeting in the Chinese capital. The development, in the middle of delicate talks about the North's nuclear ambitions, represented the most significant potential breakthrough since the stalemate between Washington and Pyongyang began in October 2002.Posted by Michele at February 26, 2004 06:35 AM | TrackBack Comments
There's always a catch. Maybe the NorK's are referring only to nuclear FUSION activities.
Posted by: MG at February 26, 2004 09:38 AM This no fly. Only dismantlement is and constant inspections is acceptable. All they are offering is to supposedly stop in their tracks in exchange for everything they want. Needless to say that is a recipe for cheating. Posted by: Mark Buehner at February 26, 2004 10:06 AM Funny, we also proposed they stop all nuclear activities. What copycats! They deserve a seat on the UN Security Council for this advance. Posted by: tj at February 26, 2004 11:10 AM Either the Money has Changed Hands, and they are waiting for the check to clear, or Kim needs to stall just a little more time, to assure deterrence. Posted by: Redneck Texan at February 26, 2004 12:42 PM Stall time for what? nobody is going to invade them, the worst that will ever happen is more of the same embargo (woopdy shit). Korea is still getting food and aid from China, and unless they do something incredibly stupid they can sit behind thier walls building up thier nukes till the cows grow a second head and all we can do i yell at them to knock it off. Im starting to wonder if they CAN make a nuke, oh sure they got the tools and the materials, but we havent heard a test yet, no big thump underground, no big proclomation of "LOOK OUT NOW!!!" just some mumbled threats and a "we have them" without anything to back it up. If this were an alley fight i woulda shot the bitch by now, cause i dont think they got squat, and quite possibly are having miserable failures in making a nuke.
Posted by: Ronin at February 26, 2004 02:02 PM China was Hoping Bush would Pay for this problem to go away, Like Clinton / Carter Did. When It became obvious that wasn't going to happen, China had a change of heart about having a Starving Lunatic on their Border with Nukes. They have been beefing up troops along the border, just in case.
