Cuba is basically one great big spider whole already. He's been living in it for decades.

A lot of folks there probably want to be detained as enemy combatants and get a year's pass to Gitmo at this point.

Understanding that the options are, Gitmo, boats and airplanes, does anyone know how many desertions the Cuban military has per year?

Ummm. What vehicles are currently returning from the moon?

The last time we had a vehicle, ANYONE had a vehicle, (Apollo 17) return from the moon, it hit the atmosphere of home at right about 23,800 MPH and at a 97 degree angle of incidence. This reentry profile is as hot as is possible. Coming in at 30,000 MPH and a 90 degree angle would be no hotter. There is not a linear progression to thermal dynamics. (See Max Planke's works on the subject...circa 1917, but still true). Besides, the Apollo Command Module was so ingeniously designed that a 'boundary layer' formed between it's underbelly and the hot plasma formed by its compression of the atmosphere and friction to insulate it.

Point is, coming in faster Mr. Ongaro will do nothing more than narrow the target you will have to hit to less than +/- 3 degrees, (miss it and skip off to perpetual solar orbit), and will do nothing more than advance the stress bearing capabilities of parachutes.
