Castro: I Will Die Fighting
Cuban President Fidel Castro vowed on Friday to die fighting "with a gun in my hand" if the United States invaded Cuba to overthrow his communist government. "I don't care how I die, but for sure, if they invade us, I will die fighting," the 77-year-old leader said at a meeting of anti-free trade activists from across the hemisphere. And all this time I thought Castro was immortal. Posted by Michele at January 30, 2004 10:39 AM | TrackBackComments
You know, he's looking at Iraq and saying: "I want dome of that lovin' too!".

Posted by: CERDIP at January 30, 2004 02:09 PM I have always thought that Cuba was a useful display of just what the socialist state is capable of, right up front where the rest of the world can look at it daily.

Remember that the next time you plunk down nine bucks for a movie. Posted by: popd at January 30, 2004 08:50 PM This is just posturing.

Posted by: murdoc at January 31, 2004 01:22 PM Understanding that the options are, Gitmo, boats and airplanes, does anyone know how many desertions the Cuban military has per year? Posted by: Mike H. at January 31, 2004 11:59 PM Castro would love to go out shooting, but I'm afraid this is the way the world ends, this is the way the world ends, this is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper.

Posted by: Val Prieto at February 4, 2004 12:57 PM He got the "I will Die" part right. And soon too. Its going to be enjoyable watching the ensuing civil war. If he really wants to die fighting, why dont he take gauntanamo back by force. Posted by: Redneck Texan at February 4, 2004 04:16 PM Post a comment
