Hopes fading for breakthrough in North Korean nuclear crisis

AP [ Full story »» ] reports:

European diplomats, who had three days of talks in Pyongyang, reported that the communist government was not easing up on its earlier preconditions for the talks. "They cannot possibly dismantle their program until they have all the assurances they need for their security. They see the nuclear weapons option as indispensable for their national security," said Percy Westerlund, director of external relations for the European Commission

was there ever hope to begin with?
what... were we going to make a deal with him or something? you think he would keep his side of the bargin?

this is NK we are talking about here.

The concept of 'national security' must come as a novel waste of time to the starving people of North Korea. If they have a dozen nuclear bombs, if they have 3 dozen nuclear bombs, how much more time is that going to buy the NK Big Boy in an exchange? If they were to use one nuclear weapon against their neighbors or US protectorates, they would invite the Shitstorm of the Ages upon their withered and emaciated heads.

I realize perception counts for more than reality in KJI's warped Loony Tune world, but how many Jack & Cokes and cheeseburgers does it take to cloud the vision? Who does Kim think gets vaporized in the next dustup? Your little spiderhole isn't going to help you when a million suns come to visit a half-mile away.

Torpedo_eight said, "I realize perception counts for more than reality in KJI's warped Loony Tune world,...."

If anyone has watched the excellent documentary, "Welcome to North Korea", they know just how true this statement is. NK is nothing short of a facade. The 'little sawed off pri-k' is nothing but a con man that has been able to blackmail other countries out of huge sums of money in the past, through his trumped up scare tactics.

I think the party is over for him.

Time is running out big time for Dear Leader. As he struts around, CenCom gathers more intel and simulates more and more scenarios - a fair share using nukes, I would imagine. The US and its allies will have long ago realised that negotiation is futile with this little fucker, and Libya is proof of how dangerous he is. We never thought we'd see Hiroshima again, but the US is the only country with a proven record of using massive weapons to enforce world peace.

And as for these EuroDiplomats, what a joke they are !! Failure - Serbia, Romania, Iraq (twice), Iran (they're being conned), Libya...the list goes on and on.

Any European with a firm grasp of reality (I realize this is a much smaller subset) and a knowledge of history knows that treaties with communist countries aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

The Soviets built massive AMB sites in Siberia as they simultaneously howled & moaned about our feeble (remarkably feeble) attempts at ICBM self-defense. Dung Sho Peng's favorite quote "Sign your treaties, build your weapons."

Some countries represent civilization, some represent the law of the jungle. Unfortunately, NK represents the end of the jungle scale. I don't believe anything but force is recognized, and KJI'll run his starving, battered country into the ground to prove this point.
