Cache Of Weapons Seized Headed to Iran
Here is the story:
Security police and customs officials in the Latvian capital, Riga, have seized what was described as a sizable illegal shipment of weapons reportedly bound for Iran. Experts say the aging gear was likely bound for terrorist groups for the purpose of updating and repairing existing equipment.
Latvian police say the shipment, disguised as farm products, actually contained night vision goggles, spare parts for armored vehicles and anti-aircraft systems.
According to the police, the illegal cargo seized at Riga's airport weighs in at 28 tons and has an estimated value of $315,000. Authorities believe the shipment came from Russia and was destined for Iran.

Spare parts for armored vehicles? For a terrorist group?
Which terrorist drives around in an armored vehicle?

Murple --
Sadly, that would be Hezbolla. These, often foreign, militias are used by the Islamo-facists in Tehran to keep the disenfranchised majority of the population in their state of enforced 14th centuary style poverty and oppression (refer: student protests earlier this year).
That's why all the Iranian journalists publish their newspapers from the UK. If you're going to criticize a fanatical, homicidal, despotic theocracy, it's best to do it at a distance of several thousand miles.

There's another one on the list.
Sooner or later, it's inevitable that we, the Israelis or both of us are going to have to do something about Hezbollah, and when we do, it's gonna be nothing nice.
Thank UN diplomacy, once again, for that org having two decades to grow to what it is today. We should've seen the bastards off in the early 1980s.

Wolf,
Another spot on comment. Why the hell didn't we deal with those ne'er do wells long ago? Oh, right, we were busy bombing aspirin factories, and wanking in Somalia. RIP the men lost during Bubba Clintshnyev's follies.

"A police spokeswoman says authorities do not believe the cargo was meant to be used by the Iranian army, as the equipment was very old."
from the Article.
Sounds like a missleading information campaign. Two words included, Russia and Iran and weapon deal highlighted.
A simple throwing with dirt to discredit Iran and Russia, probably this whole thing is as forged as the latest AA Missile deal.
If anyone would ever bother to look on a Map you'll see it's far easier to transport any weapons on land through Chezchenia. I'm sure most Russian Soldier (Officiers) there will sell their Weapons to anyone for solid Money anyway.
Sending it via Riga and as Air Cargo is hillarious.
Terrorists don't buy old crap for 350k. They don't need it and probably they have already better.

Yep
Nobody, that's got to be you, the left handed monkey wretch that was calling himself "somebody" on that other blog. They, too, realized what a nimrod you are.
Do you think that maybe, figuring the logical routes for smuggling weapons are also the ones most likely to be monitored and therefore the riskiest to take, the smugglers might instead prefer to negotiate the less likely, roundabout routes to reduce the chances of getting caught?
Has it occurred to you that when you're shopping for weapons or other items you're not supposed to possess, and are therefore restricted to whatever's available on the black market, you sometimes have to go for whatever's out there, rather than enjoy the luxury of a freshly laminated, gold leaf bordered menu of the creme de la creme of state of the art merchandise?
"Be sure", as the old cliche goes,"brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear."

Seth,
Nobody lives in a simpleton world. If foreign events contradict what he has been protesting about and lambasting about then he just assumes that those 'Foreign Events' never happened.
It is the old 'Conspiracy' card. Very similar with the Race card but in this it is usually Anti-American especially when a Conservative President is in office.
