Al-Qaeda’s new war
Economist Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda network is fighting on, but in a new form. Officials around the world have issued a fresh wave of warnings about terrorist cells following a series of bombings linked to Osama bin Laden’s terrorist organisation, al-Qaeda. Security forces in Saudi Arabia and Morocco have detained a number of Islamic militants in the hunt for the organisers of suicide attacks in Riyadh and Casablanca; and Saudi police have arrested three men they say were planning to hijack a plane and fly it into a high-rise office block in the Saudi capital.
