Special Analysis: Degrees of Decentralization

[by counter-terror analyst Dan Darling]

Dan Nexon, who is among other things an assistant professor at Georgetown, asked some very interesting questions as to whether or not there is an organized terror network. As an advocate of this position, I feel inclined to answer them and hope that others will agree.

Dan writes in the comments of this thread:

Dan may be right, or he may be wrong. But conclusive evidence either way? We lack that - at least in the public domain - in spades.

Ah, but do we? I don't think so and neither does Michael Scheuer, the man who once headed up the CIA's bin Laden unit. Regardless of one's opinion of his views on other issues, I think that we can definitely agree that Scheuer is in a position to know on these topics and one of the reasons he wrote Through Our Enemies' Eyes was to demonstrate to other CIA analysts the value of open-source information in intelligence analysis. Like its successor Imperial Hubris, Through Our Enemies' Eyes definitely supports the idea that there is an organized terror network, as does Richard Clarke's Against All Enemies if one desires another insider account. Other statements and court documents issued by European anti-terrorism judges as Baltasar Garzon and Jean-Louis Bruguiere likewise support this opinion. Newsweek even took the administration to task for assuming otherwise in an August 2004 article entitled "Like Clockwork" that includes the following statement:

There is no longer a Global War on Terror

According to Mr Shock N Aaahhh it is now "global struggle against violent extremism" see NYT today

wonder if that means that C-P will change the category heading?

Good to see that progress in the failed Bush administration depends on having the right slogan. All you Kool-Aid drinkers are expected to use the new acronym g-SAVE. Pretend that the "g" stands for Georgie Porgie.

The cognitive deficiency on the left that renders them completely incapable of grasping more than a single strand of anything at never ceases to astound. It's amazing they can walk and breathe at the same time.

We saw it during OIF. The mantra from the moonbat mouthbreathers: "So is it about WMD? Or about freeing Iraq? Or about terrorism? Or about reforming the dysfunctional Middle East? Which is it? Huh? Huh? Huh?" The answer -- all of those things.

We see it in the War on Terrorism. "How are we fighting this? Military power? Law enforcement? Diplomacy? Economics? Huh? Huh? Huh?" The answer -- all of those ways.

Now 'dubya' provides the latest illustration of the left's intellectual inadequacy. If we'd had the internet during WWII, we would no doubt have seem things like: "Why call it a World War? We're not fighting the world, are we? And just who are we fighting? Japan? Germany? Italy? Is it the War on Fascism or the War on Naziism? You've all sheeple duped by that warmongering imperialist Rusevelt. 'Ruse,' get it? huh-huh-huh."

Well, I have to have some degree of faith in peoples' instincts, and I understand them even more when I determine the bias.

I have heard some really outlandish theories, as I'm sure everyone has, and I just question them to find out how it is, if I want (or need) to know where it's at. There seems to be at least always a third way to
understand things that applies to all questions and answers. (I keep in mind that there are things like "String Theory" that could add possible other ways of determining what to do.) There are also the 'Known knowns' as well.

It is also a good idea to keep in mind, sort of, also, who it is better to battle with to achieve desired results. as well as who we are at war with.

I always like the way George Shultz and people like him went about doing things and thinking about things, Joe Leiberman is another gifted individual, there are others, the list is extensive, Tony Blair has a gift for expressing the uncommon sense and he seems to agree with George Bush who is of a different political party entirely.

Example:

"Press: And do you believe as some have claimed that these attacks are in retaliation, so to speak, for the war in Iraq?

Rumsfeld: Oh, that's ridiculous.

Press_(On): Why do you say that?

Rumsfeld (Presses On): There was no war in Iraq in 9/11. Terrorist attacks had been happening well before the war in Iraq. It's just utter nonsense."
.

P.Q.Q. (Post Quote Quote) Al Einstein stressed the "Keep it simple." aspect of things.
