"Home-Grown Terror"
Detectives are piecing together the lives of Britain's first suicide bombers - four home-grown young men who are believed to have brought carnage to London. The call that cracked the case: A TELEPHONE call from a worried mother in Leeds trying to find her missing teenage son led police to unravel the identity of the London suicide bombers. The call, at 10pm last Thursday, more than 12 hours after the London explosions, was one of thousands the police handled as news of the attack spread. The woman caller gave the name of her son as Hasib Hussain, who was aged 19. Depending on how one measures such things, these were not Britain's first suicide bombers. The terrorists who aimed for the American Embassy in Tel-Aviv and were self-diverted to "Mike's Place", a jazz club next door. were in fact British subjects. They killed four or five inncoent people who were out for an evening of entertainment.
