Israeli Minister Calls Arafat a Terrorist

Really? Since when?

AP: Israeli Minister Calls Arafat a Terrorist

he expulsion of Yasser Arafat is "closer than ever," Israel's foreign minister said in remarks broadcast Thursday, calling the veteran Palestinian leader a terrorist.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom, in a passionate speech late Wednesday to hard-line supporters from his Likud Party, said Arafat had no place in the region. The remarks were broadcast early Thursday on Israel Radio.

It was the second time in a week that a senior Israeli official talked about expelling Arafat. On Monday, Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said the government remained committed to a security cabinet decision from last year to remove Arafat, but there were no immediate plans to take action.

"Arafat has no place among us and the day will come when we will remove him from this land to a different place and this day is closer than ever," Shalom said.

"Arafat is a terrorist, Arafat is not a person with whom we should talk," Shalom said, emphasizing that Israel would continue its policy of confining Arafat to his West Bank headquarters.

If "removed" from Ramallah, where do you think Arafat will end up?
