MAARIV: Threat of mutiny in PA security forces

The growing dissatisfaction within the Palestinian population over the rampant corruption and incompetence of the PA has infiltrated its security services, some of which have begun to mutiny.

Three days a police unit of 130 officers and men stormed and took over a base of Force 17, an elite unit designated as Arafat’s bodyguards, which operates under his personal command.

The mutineers’ commander, Ahmed Mobarakh has said that his men will not move, and warned of more acts of mutiny among other Palestinian units if the issues are not addressed and rectified.

(Hamas and Islamic Jihad, both terror groups, are unchecked de facto powers in Gaza.)

I posted something yesterday predicting this (sorta) at some point the Palestinians have to wake up to the fact that they are being held as chattel by Arafat & co.

Of course the UN high commissioner is of absolutely no help. The ambulance scandal clearly illustrated the failure of this approach.

Further, Israel's approach has resulted in virtually no armed palestinians in plain sight. The remorseless destruction of the homes of the terrorists has reduced thier support.

Now we need to ratchet up the pressure one more notch: cut off the money flow, both our "contributions" via foreign aid and the money raised by terror groups via "charity".

At some point the palestinians themselves will have to decide how they chose to live. There will be trouble, Arab on Arab violence, the whole gamut of stupidity we've seen in Iraq thus far, hopefully common sense will prevail.

Of course this could all be avoided by simply offing Fat Yassar but that ain't gonna happen.

I wouldnt want to see Arafat made a martyr, so assasination is out of the question. Israel apparantly thinks along the same lines, as its been well within their abillity to kill him for a very long time.

I just hope the Palestinians realize their being played the fool in an absurd proxy war against the Jews.

Hull- They havent for 40 years, i seriously doubt they will any time soon.

The only way there will ever be any chance of meaningful change for the Palestinians is if they kill Arafat themselves.

They should kill Arafat themselves. They should string him up just like the Italians did with Mussolini.

But they won't. And here's why.

Well, Mussolini was killed by the Italian Communists. It is unclear if the majority of the Italians wanted him dead.

The triumphant of the anti-Mussolin forces was due to the presence of the US Army in Italy.
