UNITED NATIONS: Secretary General Statements

The Secretary-General condemns Israel's assassination of Hamas leader Abdelaziz Rantissi. He reiterates that extrajudicial killings are violations of international law and calls on the Government of Israel to immediately end this practice. He is apprehensive that such an action would lead to further deterioration of an already distressing and fragile situation. The only way to halt an escalation in the violence is for Israelis and Palestinians to work towards a viable negotiating process aimed at a just, lasting and comprehensive settlement, based on the Quartet's Road Map.

Acts of war are not "extrajudicial". Hamas has stated, only a couple of hundred times, that they are at war with Israel. Trouble is with holding a war, other people get to play. It's not a one-party event.

Of course, Kofi spoke out so continually against Rantissi, and just as he was making headway Israel had to go and do this. No, wait...

Hear, hear, Kofi! Let's keep the status quo of strapping bombs to little kids and sending them to market. We can work with that!

OK, so I'm coming out of Costco this afternoon after having had a chicken burrito for lunch, and I'm walking to my car and, like any burrito-eating fellow who's been walking around for an hour, I end up farting in the parking lot. I'll bet you that my actions in the parking lot this afternoon will be as effective at ending the madness in Israel/Palestine/Idiotswhowanttokilleachotherstan as anything the corrupt Mr. Annan and his a-hole friends at the UN do. In fact, I'll bet I'm ahead, as my actions are at least harmless.

And Koffi's statement of the same when Hamas' death cultists send someone's child to murder women and children? Just askin'?

Posted by: confused at April 17, 2004 11:04 PM

"He reiterates that extrajudicial killings are violations of international law "

We completely agree, so of course he understands to keep the palastinians from killing bussloads of people without any trial we need to vaporize the bastards with rockets.

Moral Relativism: Kofi opening his mouth.

Heh. Heh, heh. Ha. HA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Thanks for posting this - I needed the laugh.

The US should follow the UN's example of a 'fair and balanced' approach to Israel/Palestine.

Posted by: Elle at April 17, 2004 11:45 PM

A fair response to 30 years of Palestinian terrorism would be to glass the lot of them. Kofi isn't too bright is he? The Israelis don't care about escalating violence. they are ready to fight. They've had it with the bullshit are are finished talking.

So am I.

If the terrorists of Islam want to talk, they need to get OUR attention from now on, because we are to busy killing them to listen.

They wanted it, they worked for decades for it, now they are getting it, in spades.

No mercy.

"...the United Nations was established...to promote peace. [But] It consists of a welter of sovereign states whose ambassadors use the devious language of peace as a fig-leaf for national self-aggrandizement. How any human organization can promote genuine peace or prevent war when egoism is the basic motive of mankind [strikes me] as ludicrous". Prof. Paul Eidelberg, Co-founder and President of the Foundation for Constitutional Democracy in the Middle East

"This international masquerade, if we look closely, marks a definite decline into earlier, barbarous standards. Playing up the problems of Israel helps to distract attention from the excesses of savage dictatorial regimes". Jacques Givet, in The Anti-Zionist Complex

"I respectfully submit that the real enemy in Korea was not the illiterate Chinese peasant who crossed the Yalu with a bag of rice and a Russian rifle. Our real enemy crouches in the chambers of the United Nations where he remains concealed to this very day." Ret Major Arch E. Roberts in his book Victory Denied, 1966.

"It is the tool of those who would make Israel the archetypal human rights violator in the world today. It is a breeding ground for anti-Semitism. It is a sanctuary for moral relativists. In short, it is a scandal." Professor Anne Bayefsky of York University, Canada, on the UN Human Rights system

Even though the UN has clearly failed in most conflict situations to promote peace and security -- its primary function -- at one task it is really unmatched. It excels at legitimizing or delegitimizing targets chosen for political reason by a coalition of dictators who dominate the world body and whose tainted authority the UN launders. Dr. Harris O. Schoenberg , President of the Center for UN Reform Education, author of A Mandate for Terror

Kofi is Ghanaian and a product of his environment, which is to say, talk is a wonderful thing and he'll talk a thing to death. If he'd been Nigerian, which has a bitter history of Islamic-Christian conflict, Kofi would have a different attitude. Besides, Israel has no oil. How's a guy supposed to get mega-oil contracts from a country that's got no oil?

Jeffers....you are right. I think the U.S. is finally getting tired of it all too. Why the hell do we have to worry about any repurcussions if we slaughter those who attempt to kill us? That's fricken stOOpid.... I like the new excuse, that we can't attack in the HOLY city of Najef? Just move everybody out, and daisy cutter that place and maybe we'll get their attention. They only understand force. The ragheads running around Fallujah are about to be demolished...and all the crying will be about civilian deaths. To hell with it....crush them. Our guys have a big advantage and we should do it at night....and since the Mosques are off limits, we should just tear gas the hell out the place!! ha ha ha Both we and Israel are about to get serious on their ass. The liberals won't like it, but Teddy Kennedy will see that this wil NOT be another Vietnam. This time we are gonna kick ass on the terrorists. I like it that Sadr is now quoting Kennedy....we need a commission to see if there is a link.

There's no such thing as "international law".

Posted by: Loren at April 18, 2004 04:50 AM

When will the Weapons of Mass destruction warehouses that are also used to store conventional weapons become targets? It should be soon, I believe. Too many of our people are being shot from the Terrorist Mosques. We cannot allow them to continue such loathsome practices.

KOFI! Return the Silverware and indict Sevan and your Son for their ill-gotten gains, and then we can talk.

Posted by: Cap'n DOC at April 18, 2004 08:49 AM

The British Government, chief U.S. ally and primary coalition partner, has called the assassination illegal, unlawful, unjustified and counter-productive.

Now back to your regularly scheduled U.N./Kofi bashing...

ok, ep2k

Again,

This doesn't make the British right, Elvis, just our ally.

Iraq ? We went to Iraq and as a outcome numerous civilians have been killed who have no relation with terrorism. Our boys are dying there beacause they are soldiers and where sent there and we are hurting for their loss and families. I am sure the innocent in Iraq are hurting too. Use a little logic; not the typical gun toting Bush policy.

We supplied Saddam with chemical weapons in 1980s to use against Iran and the people there are suffering to this day We bombed Hiroshima

Unfortunately, the UN does not have the leeway or the might exercised by independent nations and its weapon is diplomacy. Kofi Annan has exercised whatever action possible within parameters set by the UN and the General Assembly. Atleast, he has not misled the World on WMDs based on fabricated intelligence.

Had the US moved with consensus and the agenda established by the UN, today, a lot of our boys would have been alive and also the innocent civilians. I guess its easy to render judgement sitting in the family room. We all sing different tunes when we ourselves are struck by tragedy.
