Amnesty to Palestinians: Denounce use of children

JERUSALEM POST: Amnesty to Palestinians: Denounce use of children

Amnesty International issued a report stating that "using children to carry out or assist in armed attacks of any kind is an abomination. We call on the Palestinian leadership to publicly denounce these practices." The report was published on Thursday in response to Wednesday's foiled attack, in which a 14-year-old Palestinian, Husam Abdu Hawara, was discovered carrying an explosive' belt while attempting to pass through Hawara checkpoint, near Nablus. According to the boy's account, he received NIS 100 to blow himself up near the soldiers, with the additional promise of being awarded 72 virgins in heaven.

It's statements like these that make me have a whole lot more respect for Amnesty than I do for Human Rights Watch.

Notice no comments from Amnesty about adults blowing innocents up on buses.

Arafat has mentioned something about it today, denouncing it. Dying to se if this keeps happening for a few weeks. Show videos of a dozen 5-8 year olds getting caught by the IDF just before they blow themselves up and this war is as good as over.

How old is this kid? I've heard 12, 16, 14. I guess all we know for sure is that it's an even number.

Arafat in Arabic or English?

Im flummoxed. Amnesty must be having a slow day. Why are they wasting their time on child suicide bombers when their are terrorists in Guantanimo without cable?

Can anyone where this report from Amnesty is? I want to point this out to someone, but it being on Jpost will "discredit" it.

Posted by: Andyzero at March 25, 2004 03:31 PM

Even if the PA does denounce it, that and $5 will get you a cup of coffee.

Posted by: Achillea at March 25, 2004 03:56 PM

Ronin - you've made some good comments, but this one is wishful thinking. This war, unfortunately, is nowhere near over... People who strap explosives to kids, or who send adults to blow up other people's kids, obviously have no conscience or sense of shame.

It would be nice to see one of these "human rights" organizations urge the Palestinians to stop using their schools as hate factories.

Where was all the 'human rights' people when Pals were blowin' up buses full of kids and women in Israel? Oh, yeah....I forgot.....accusing Bush of intentionally killing millions of innocent Iraqi women and children for the oil.

I think Rachel Corrie was one of them, too. She was a smashing success in her Palestinian debut. Chased down and ruthlessly murdered by a hi-speed bulldozer while producing her 'koom ba ya' propaganda.

I'll be a lot more impressed when Amnesty denounces attacks in which the victims are children.

The day will come when this war will be over, but sadly it will be because of extreme force and destruction. Israel is by far more powerful than the barking dog Palestinians...and they have put up with attacks killing many of their citizens. The day will come when rage will take out many many of the normal everyday good Palestinians...but since they live to do Israel in, even as they live and work in that land, they too will be slammed. Its just too bad those people have no sense of integrity or morality....a pax be on them before they are killed....I'm tired of seeing the mamas in their scarves crying for their misguided family members...I'm glad Israel puts them into more misery by destroying their houses.....I wonder if Yassir Arafat has his will made out yet? The Mrs stands to get MILLIONS of blood money...she's in France right? ha ha ha

"Good palistinian"? whats that? there are no such things as "palestinians". get it through your head. They Are Arabs from different places.

Sinfull evil Muslim Arab bastards is what they are. period. The sooner Israel blows those devils spawn off the map the better.

Any one ever read a book called "Lucifer's Hammer?" there's a great line to the effect that "this time there would be no UN sanctions, no peacekeepers. This time the war would go on until it was fought with knives." I think that's the most telling analysis of the conflict I've ever read. These people would "fight in a burning house."

To qualify, i am pro war in iraq, pro war on terror and pro israel's right to defend herself from the islamonazis, but i am sick of reading blatant bigotry like this on the CP. Go spew your bile somewhere else you freak. You're no better than than the goons from Hamas when you come out with this stuff. Admin, could we please enforce the posting rules occasionally? I would like to think that we have some normal people on our side and reading stuff like that gives the loony left all the ammunition it needs :(

Amnesty's message is this: kill Israelis without using kids.
