The Publisher's Desk: Photoshop Contests
July 07, 2004Photoshop Contest: A WinnerWe have a winner in the Photoshop contest. It was close ... one vote decided the winner. The final tally: ![]() Yes, the winner is Mr. X, closely followed by Rollo Tomassi with "Fingers Gun Hussein." When we finally get some TCP swag, we'll send you both something to supplement your current glory. Great job, everyone. We hope you had as much fun as we did. We'll start on the caption contest results next. July 04, 2004Photoshop Contest: The Polls Are Open!Through a highly unscientific method of "What are your favorites?" followed by the even more unscientific art of compromise, Michele and I have narrowed the Photoshop entries to a field of 10. I've posted them below. To select the winner we'll be using a tried and true method--popular vote--and I've created a new poll over in the right-hand column of the Publisher's Desk for that purpose. One vote per person; we'll keep the polls open all weekend and announce a winner first thing Tuesday morning. Again, thanks to all who contributed ... we hope it was as much fun for you as it was for us. Now, our final 10:

July 02, 2004Photoshop Entry #26: RallSaddamFrom our own Laurence Simon, who has a blog that is full of crap. (The head here belongs to Ted Rall, Michele's favorite cartoonist.) ![]() Photoshop Entry #25: Timeout! From reader Mike Dennin, who asks "where the hell is this kid's mother?" ![]() Photoshop Entry #23: Shoulda Coulda WouldaThis comes from reader J, a regular contributor to our comment pages (and, I have it on good authority, a damn fine human being). Photoshop Entry #22: F9/112Shoulda' seen this coming ... and I have to say, the whole "Photoshop Saddam into movie posters" meme is interesting ... may have to make it a sub-category. This entry comes via Michele ... I'm unsure about the identity of the artist. And for those not used to cursing on these pages: all apologies. ![]() Photoshop Entry #21: The Great GabboThis comes from reader Dirk Strom, who notes: "Alan, a little off-message, but I found it funny. At first. Cheers, Dirk." Yep. ![]() Photoshop Entry #20: Fingers Guns HusseinThis is quite good ... note that it's a Don King production. From reader Rollo Tomassi, who publishes the Decadent West blog. (Click the image to see it full-sized.) Photoshop Entry #19: Saddam AmericanaThis is from reader VoR, who writes "I know this is a lot of picture for a little absurdity, but the touch of Americana seemed appropriate for the upcoming holiday." Indeed. (Click to get the full effect.) Photoshop Entry #18: Saddam's Theater of DanceThis comes from reader Dan Brown (who clearly lives in a land of creativity far, far away). Photoshop Entry #9: Saddam SimmonsRegular reader Waffle Stompter sends this in. "Back to the phones. Baghdad, Iraq: F*** you..."Photoshop Entry #3: Mr XThis photoshop contest entry comes from the one and only Mr. X (and politics aside, I have to say, this borders on brilliance). It's an animated .gif, so give it a second if the snaps don't immediately start rolling. ![]() |
