1 You're significantly raising the Google rankings of those spammers.

2 You thereby encourage the practice and enrich the spammers. That's a hazard for us all.

3 You're creating a policy on sites like mine where linking to you = supporting spam. So we don't.

An anti-spam policy that mirrors France's approach to the War on Terror is not an edifying thing. Frankly, in your place I'd turn Trackbacks off completely, and remove them from the site. They add little gives TCP's focus and format. But if you're going to keep them, you've GOT to deal with them. Aggressively.
