Colin Powell As The Village People?
Who needs a Photoshop contest when you have this, courtesy the AP? US Secretary of State Colin Powell, performs a version of the Village People disco hit song 'YMCA' at the conclusion of Asia's largest security meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Friday July 2, 2004. Powell took to the stage, dressed as a construction worker Friday, with other unidentified US diplomats to deliver their rendition of the 1970's hit song to an audience of Asia Security meeting delegates. You don't think I'd post this without photos, do you? These are thumbnails ... click 'em to see them full-sized. The very bold may see streaming video here (over in the right-hand column of the page you'll link to), but I warn you: It is not for the faint of heart (nor ear). (Cross-posted here.) The fourth photo proves conclusively that Colin Powell is, in fact, a white man. ;) Posted by: eric at July 3, 2004 09:26 AM Sweet! Now I only have three spaces left to go on my Signs of the Apocalypse punch-card, and I win a free baker's dozen from Krispy Kreme!
Posted by: Braintrust at July 3, 2004 10:01 AM I saw that on Fox News, there are bad ideas, then there that. How much booze do they serve at those shindigs? Posted by: OBH at July 3, 2004 10:05 AM I came to see the pictures of Sodom Insane at trial, but I must not understand your site, because all I am seeing are pictures proving our Secretary of State has a sense of humor. Posted by: DagneyT at July 3, 2004 10:27 AM I don't know where the rest of you work, but where I work we don't do crap like this. We laugh and tell personal stories sometimes but we have a concept called adulthood and we gave up stupid costumes and changing the lyrics to songs in junior high.
Posted by: John Davies at July 3, 2004 11:25 AM I haven't laughed this hard since the UN WMD evidence revue. Posted by: bananas at July 3, 2004 01:07 PM Does Japan's avowed love of Karaoke have anything to do with this? A goodwill gesture towards Japanese culture, maybe?
