'Comical Ali' Resurfaces

BBC:

One of the most remarkable figures of the Iraq war has resurfaced for the first time since the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime in April.

Former Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf - dubbed "Comical Ali" for his deadpan insistence that Iraqi forces were crushing the invading Americans - appeared in brief interviews on Al-Arabiya and Abu Dhabi TV on Thursday.

He said that he had surrendered himself to US forces, who had released him after questioning.

US Central Command would not confirm his claim that he had been interrogated and freed.

"We don't have him, and there is no information from our people on the ground to back up these reports," a spokeswoman for Central Command told BBC News Online.

The funny thing about this is . . . how can we trust his statement? Based on past experience I would translate 'surrendered himself to US forces, who had released him after questioning' to 'locked himself in the bathroom and cried, then went for a walk'. Especially considering "US Central Command would not confirm his claim that he had been interrogated and freed."

According to this article at reuters, he should be on Abu Dhabi TV on 4pm Thursday (eastern) for an interview. Abu Dhabi TV is carried by some cable companies... I guess its worth checking out. Hopefully its subtitled.

What good would any information be that you get from him???? Oh, I get it.....you just figure the opposite of what he says.

Oh c'mon Jeff.... they guys hilarious. I cant wait to watch it because I figure on a couple of scenarios here:

A. I want to hear his excuses for the BS he was feeding those that were dumb enough to listen.

B. I want to hear his latest BS. I've missed the Baghdad Bob Show... it was a riot! LOL

USF.....are they going to interview him? If they are really going to 'call him on the carpet', you're right, it would probably set a ratings record !

Everybody knows a habitual liar and how much fun it is to grill them when they are caught 'red handed'.

Jeff. Well according to what Abu Dhabi TV told reuters, theres an interview on. If for some reason it falls thru, theres always that 3pm friday one on Al-Arabiya. Im pretty sure that the major networks will pick it up.

Sit back and watch the fun :)

I am just waiting for Jay Leno to put him on. That would be great!

John,

Letterman's the guy to roast Baghdad Bob. Leno doesn't have Dave's touch. Good fun either way.
