Dutch To Send 1,100 Peacekeepers To Iraq

From the Tri-City Herald / AP:

The Netherlands will send 1,100 peacekeepers to southern Iraq to join the British-led multinational stabilization force, the Dutch government said.

The Cabinet decided Friday to contribute a battalion of marines under a U.N. Security Council resolution, according to a Foreign Ministry statement posted on its Web site.

Of course, here at TCP we've benefited from Dutch assistance, in the form of Oskar, since the beginning.

Given the composition of the population in Holland, I wonder how many of these "peacekeepers" will be Muslim and speak a bit of Arabic?

I wonder,do the us troops get to come home?Or do they have to stay as well? I just want my husband

My brother, with the Brits, has gone out for a 10 week tour of duty. At the end of that, he comes home for a month, then goes back out for another 10 weeks. Don't be surprised if troops will be redeployed to Iraq. I think we'll have to get used to it for the next 2 years or so.
