U.N. Appoints Special Representative For Iraq
FYI, he's Brazilian, and until now was the UN high commissioner for human rights (see its website here). From the New York Times: Sérgio Vieira de Mello, a longtime United Nations executive who made his reputation in recent years helping repair the havoc caused by the world's nastiest regional conflicts, is Secretary General Kofi Annan's choice as the United Nations special representative in Iraq.Posted By Alan at May 24, 2003 09:07 AM | TrackBack His skillz would have been better served in a French African colony. He could keep an eye on how the French Foreign Legion restores order. Brazilians, according to a new Liquor commerical running up in Canada, the Brazilians would like to be remembered for passion and love... So I guess, the Iraqi Police need to protect the Whiskey, the Brazilian will bring the Sexy, and well the Americans will bring the Democracy... Posted by: Original Mark at May 24, 2003 10:07 AMThe woman lib groups are already bitching about that commercial. Hey guys, I think the 'WHISKEY!' defined the moment just a skosh better than the 'sexy' did... Ignore the visuals, Bubba. You'll be blind drunk in 60 seconds anyway! I don't get drunk that easly, Dave, Unlike American beer drinkers, we are used to drink beer with alcohol in it..... Bubba, And going to Europe and watching Canadians getting pissed on Czech and Belgium beer that can be at 12% to 19%. Well not just Canadians, everyone with a healthy liver will probably get tanked on that. Posted by: Original Mark at May 24, 2003 03:32 PM I'm sure there are a few dead liver cells I'm carrying around from over indulging on that stuff. Cooper's Extra Stout from Aussieland. Yum, Yum! Posted by: LongDukDong at May 24, 2003 08:50 PMI never trust a beer I can see through.:-) Most of the American beer is shite, and I grew up in Texas, which is near America. Posted by: LongDukDong at May 24, 2003 08:51 PMMy friend... Its not American beer that is shit... It is the Mexican ones that are... Posted by: Original Mark at May 24, 2003 09:55 PMDiplomat Will Oversee U.N.'s Iraq Operations (washingtonpost.com) Vieira de Mello, a U.N. veteran favored by the United States, has extensive experience in nation building, having led East Timor through its transition to independence. He also was the first U.N. administrator of Kosovo after months of NATO bombing drove Serbian forces out of the Yugoslav territory. We all remember the bang up job that the UN has done in both places. Didn't the UN protest when Indonesian militias were killing people? Yes, but did nothing to stop it. Kosovo has had the UN "building" their nation for what...four years now? I understand they finally got the electricity on intermittently. Are these peiople we want to emulate? Posted by: Just Some Poor Schmuck at May 24, 2003 10:30 PM Just Some Poor Schmuck - YUPPERS ! They got a REEEALLY SPECIAL person to do the reeeallly special stuff. Like, maybe he can keep lookin' for the Loot. Or the Booty. Or the Booze. Leave it up to those really special people to take care of all that grunt work. LMAO Sorry. Had a HUGE brain fart. It's that German brew I been sippin' all day. HE CAN LOOK FOR THE SILVERWARE. Second thought. He can look for Waldo. Better yet, how about we just let him look for a clue. This is getting better with every fried synapse. How 'bout a search of the underground plumbing? Did you realize when you flush a toilet in the Southern Hemisphere it goes counterclockwise? There's gotta be a good story in this. Somewhere. Is he goin' in undercover? Posted by: Dave Dube at May 25, 2003 01:16 AMLong dong duc, there are many good Lagers and pislners you can sorta see through, But only made in Canada, Coopers is good, and I lean towards full bodied dark ales myself,, but I brew alot of my own beers, kinda a hobby of mine when I have time. It brews out to about 10%, and it's fairly light in color. add good hops and it's got good bite and no hangover...... Posted by: Bubba at May 25, 2003 03:16 PMPost a comment
