Tape shows exhausted, confused Saddam

[AP via CBS2]

In what is purported to be his last known wartime speech a video never before televised Saddam Hussein appears exhausted, at times confused and seemingly resigned to defeat, but he tells Iraqis that God, somehow, will help them expel the American-British occupiers.

"The faithful will be victorious over the sinners, regardless of the duration of the struggle and the forms it might take,'' Saddam says. With patience, the "ordeal'' can be overcome, he says, and the invaders driven from Iraq.

The videotape, bearing a presidential stamp, was obtained by Associated Press Television News from a former employee of the Iraqi satellite television channel which, under the regime, was responsible for filming and distributing official presidential video.

Send in the French "Underground". Let them poke around in the Baghdad sewer system for awhile...

Anybody else wondering where or what happened to the "uber-bunker" that Saddam was famous for? We find it yet or crack it open?

Welcome to life on the run, Saddam!

Ronin,
Along with the WMD's, very little has been said about the large network of command bunkers. I recall the one's by the airport getting some play, and one with bio hazard showers somewhere at a local residence... but not the "mother of all bunkers" weread about from the German company. Is this stuff being classified or are we still searching for the bunkers?

Hmm, it's curious that he asked his aides if his reading was okay. That doesn't sound like something the Iraqi dictator would do: ask for reassurance. Rather, it's something I would expect from a Saddam double hoping to keep a bullet from entering between his shoulderblades.

Oh PLEASE!!!!!!

Is this a sympathy article? Poor, poor Saddam, who has billions of dollars, murderer of millions,
A man who had every convenience in the world,
advisor's, etc. Is now a poor confused disillusioned man? Is he playing the Micheal Jackson "poor little rich boy" game? Saddam says "I didn't know it was wrong to kill people" Micheal says "I didn't know it was wrong to play with little boys in my bed"

Gimme a break, Reality says, every normal person should know good from bad; how we all should be treated in life, basic human rights, love Vs. hate. distribution of the wealth of the planet. greed vs. charity. On and on I can go.

America has greed, unfairness, corruption, etc. But, it's allot better than what we see in the greedy, corrupt mid east, russia, europe, china type places. we should NEVER erode our values to those practiced in those places.
Fighting for humanity is a noble cause, both at home, and abroad.
Screw you saddam, you had a life, you knew what was good and bad, but you made your choice. Now, suffer the consequences.

He's right, of course. The faithful HAVE been victorious over the sinners, after long struggle.

There's a funny picture here of Saddam's new disguise: http://rsrobinson.blogspot.com/

Of course he's confused. Baghdad Bob told him they were winning.

Yea, tyrants like Saddam are greedy. Now the
people of Iraq will have a Good govt and have a
banking and stock market like ours and No taxes
to make up for all the robing that gets done in
the name of honesty. Investment bankers bilk
billions from investors and get a slap on the
wrist. People loose their retirement money and
Co's go belly up and little is done and when AA
wanted employees to take cuts they gave themselves
raises. Iraq should love That kind of freedom and
we should teach them about S n L's. That should
add to their national debt But they can afford it,
They have Earl.. though I don't think enough to
Build a country of 30mil that needs Everything.

Now that troops are being moved from europe to
Romania and Bulgaria will Russia be next ? We
can ship Chernoble to NV and bury it there. That
mt is big enough for it and their nukes Unless
they launch them to hide them or give them to
al quida like Saddam Must have done since he
had Tons and none are found. I feel SO much safer
but I think I'll get more plastic and D tape and
another filter for my gas mask. Maybe a dozen if
they really had Tons of the stuff or is the cia
wrong Again ???

huh, dude, VF...pass the bong, man

Posted by: anon at May 2, 2003 10:04 PM

Why does he keep mentioning that they should drink the koolaid?

Posted by: AST at May 2, 2003 11:16 PM

Yea man, share VF.
what do you need duct tape for man? unless you have a rusty car like me man.
Duct tape and the gas mask come in handy to keep the exaust fumes out, and keep me from passing out while driving, man.

Oh, and on a sober note, buyer beware, people who don't buy gaurantied investments are just plain stupid.
Or, as granny used to say, "don't put all your eggs in one basket.
if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

People make stupid investments out of greed, not wisdom.
why do so many people get ripped off over the phone when someone calls and says they won a million dollars and they need to send a few grand to get the money?
Stupid is as stupid does
