Cerics Blame Baath Operatives For Gunfire, Arrests In Iraqi Holy City
From WHO / AP: Police in the holy Iraqi city of Najaf have arrested two men, after a group opened fire with automatic weapons and threw hand grenades outside the central shrine.Posted By Alan at May 2, 2003 07:47 AM | TrackBack Note that this arrest was done by police, not by Coalition military forces. I find that a very good sign. Posted by: DSmith at May 2, 2003 08:09 AMIn Najaf, too. Grenades and rifle fire... wonder if these assholes were in the crowd 'protesting', and perhaps shooting some of their own people? ("It's Allah's will, we must do EVERYTHING we can to drive out the infidel! And if we kill our own doing it, it's Allah's will!") J. these shit disturbers have no idea what Allah's will is. They just assume that Allah's will is theirs and so impose their will on others... Posted by: Original Mark at May 2, 2003 08:55 AM"They just assume that Allah's will is theirs and so impose their will on others..." This was exactly the modus operandi of one prophet Muhammed. One of his wives, a younger second wife I believe, is reported in the Hadiths as claiming that whenever M was in a difficult situation, it seemed curious to her how Allah was always there to provide legitmacy to his immoral actions post facto. Of course, him being the only speaker for Allah gave him moral "blank check," which his followers are continually cashing in. In most other cultures M would just have been a raving lunatic. "They just assume that Allah's will is theirs and so impose their will on others..." Substitute "God" for "Allah" and it sounds like some Christians I see on television every day... Posted by: tja at May 2, 2003 11:37 AMtja::: God's will (Christian) is to love your enemy. Somehow, I think "Allah's" synapsis left the planet, 'cuz his message is 'kill the enemy(infidel)'. If we do that inversely, we end up with the thumpers preaching Islam, which is not what I think you had in mind. Can you be more specific? Posted by: Dave Dube at May 2, 2003 01:09 PMPost a comment
