Seven U.S. Troops Injured in Fallujah Grenade Attack
The recent trend of violence continued in Fallujah (search) on Thursday as attackers lobbed two grenades into a U.S. military compound, wounding seven GIs just hours after they had opened fire on anti-American protesters, a U.S. intelligence officer reported. None of the injuries to soldiers of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fallujah was life-threatening, said Capt. Frank Rosenblatt.Posted By Michele Catalano at May 1, 2003 06:18 AM | TrackBack If they want the US to leave, this would be the wrong approach. The islamofacists take every opportunity to prove how really dumb they are. Posted by: SSRIuser at May 1, 2003 07:54 AM>>>>>>wounding seven GIs just hours after they had opened fire on anti-American protesters, Shouldn't that have read, "wounding seven GIs just hours after they had opened fire on 'armed combatants ' that had opened fire on the GIs, while participating in a anti-American protest," Posted by: Jeff B at May 1, 2003 08:06 AMYes Jeff B, And all protestors are "civilians" too. Its not like the Iraqis didn't demonstrate that they would hide in hospitals, schools, religious buildings, dress as civilians, and use human shields... Stupid reports, call a spade a spade, and an Iraqi an asshole! Posted by: Original Mark at May 1, 2003 08:08 AMI have heard only one _broadcast_ report (the BBC World Service, believe it or not) which stressed,as this article does, that Fallujah is a Baathist stronghold, with the people there stilll loyal to the former dictator despised by most of the rest of the Country. NPR and mainstream press have not made that clear, in the reports I have heard (although I have not heard all the reports). These "shots fired at civilians" stories are truly misleading -- an obvious attempt to dredge up negative, "we are losing the peace," stories. These Journos need to dig a little deeper. Posted by: Rayhnyc at May 1, 2003 08:58 AMMaybe the grenades were thrown by civilian protestors. Maybe even children. Posted by: PJ at May 1, 2003 09:06 AMI think we need to star putting these "children" in prisons. A nine year old with a grenade is as guilty as a 20-year-old. I think it will also get their families in line to know this will happen. These people all need strong displine and an iron hand. Posted by: gijoseph at May 1, 2003 09:46 AMYuppers... maybe these kids were taking a baath, and the soap just slipped out of their hands??? If these are the same kids who beat themselves with chains, what makes you think that they're going to keep their chains to themselves? They've been taught from the cradle to slay the infidel - can you think of a better classroom? Posted by: Dave Dube at May 1, 2003 09:49 AMOBTW - where are the 'embeds' when you need 'em?' I mean the ones that will 'tell it like it is?' Posted by: Dave Dube at May 1, 2003 09:51 AMRayhync, I've read on numerous sites that this is a Ba'athist stronghold. Posted by: Jacques at May 1, 2003 11:12 AMgijoseph, dave dube, Yent: No. I'm playing the cynic here, and I had my tongue firmly 'embedded' in my cheek. 30+ years ago I patched up the results of 'civvies' lobbing grenades, etc., and I ain't any more pleased about it now than I was then. In this case, a conclusion may be drawn (from what is revealed by biased reporting) that the latter (the fragging) was a result of the former (the protest). Not necessarily so, but when you're playing in the 'hood, you better be prepared to deal with ALL the 'hooderites. We were obviously treated early on as gullible infidels, were we not? A 'pregnant' woman shows up at a checkpoint, and the humanitarian thing to do is go to her aid. Only, we suffer casualties, while she 'suffers' martyrdom. Remember the video of her with her right hand on the Koran? Give me a break. These people have been de-humanized, and part of it is their 'sick' religion, which has been ingrained in them from birth. When I speak of 'classrooms', I'm referring to the ultimate Baath environment, where what Allah says, goes. I could give a rip if the little soldier is two, ten or twenty, if he lobs a grenade (or a bullet) in my direction on my watch he's going to die, and that's the end of that story. I'm sure his family will grieve over his loss, but until they learn that it's their BAD behavior bringing it to them, we won't see any GOOD behavior.
