Second Norfolk-Based Sub To Return From War
(AP) - A second Norfolk-based submarine is scheduled to return from the war in Iraq with its crew of 148 officers and sailors, the Navy said Monday.

The USS Newport News, a Los Angeles class fast-attack submarine, is expected to return to Norfolk Naval Station on Wednesday afternoon. It follows the April 15 return of the USS Boise, the first combat vessel to come back from the war. The 360-foot Newport News, which launched several Tomahawk cruise missiles during Operation Iraqi Freedom, deployed on Oct. 3.

Another submarine, the USS San Juan, is also expected to return Wednesday to its home port in Connecticut, the Navy said.
