Iran refuses to recognise Iraqi Interim Govt

From The Times of India :

Iranian President Mohammad Khatami said on Wednesday his country will not recognise a US-installed interim administration in Iraq and will support Syria if it is attacked.
Hat Tip to reader James.

I doubt Iran wants to recognize any IIraqi government, anyway, so this statement is not too suprising. That way they get to snub two groups the country hates at once....

So, attacking Syria will automatically draw Iran into war.

Hmmm... A double header for the Shock & Awe World Tour...

Mark, did you bother to read the story?
he said: "We will defend Syria but it doesn't mean we will engage in military confrontation."

Ah... ok... Defense without military confrontation? What exactly does that mean I wonder? They'll take in syrian Ba'athists escaping from an overrun and newly occupied Syria?

Of course, it's a much longer haul from Syria to Iran that from Baghdad to Damascus lol...

Nothing would please me more than to see Syria and Iran both overthrown, Syria from without, necessarily, and Iran from within.

Then we can really exert some pressure on North Korea, although admittedly, I have no ideas at all for any outcome there that doesn't involve either 1) rivers of blood, or 2) Direct intervention by deity.

NK is hell on earth in perpetuity. Good thing Madeleine Albright sat down for a nice lunch of tea and foie gras and straightened everything out for us a few years ago, or it would really be bad now.
