WP: Seven U.S. Troops Found Safe and Well in Iraq

Reuters reports that:

Seven American prisoners were found safe and well in Iraq on Sunday after their captors apparently fled from U.S. Marines advancing on Saddam Hussein's crumbling northern bastion of Tikrit.

U.S. officials said the group, comprising all seven people on the U.S. list of prisoners of war in the Iraqi war so far, included five members of an ambushed Army convoy and two pilots of a downed Apache attack helicopter.

I don't want to seem cruel, but there are at least four other threads in this blog today detailing the POW's return...

We frequently re-post stories if they have scrolled off the main page but are big news, or if there are some new details.

People seem to have a high degree of interest in this story.

We do? I didn't think we did.

What's new with this?

It depends on the report, Patrick. There's no formal system in place. As yet, anyway.

"We frequently re-post stories if they have scrolled off the main page but are big news, or if there are some new details."

Uh, OK. But how about when you DO repost, label it REPOSTED and link to the earlier commandpost story and not a new outside article.

Chill out you guys, it's not that big a deal.

It would be a lot easier to be critical if we had to pay for any of this great service. We don't even have to put up with crappy advertisements. There is little but a small "donate" icon that gets ignored as much as Martin Sheen.

The Command Post has been a great, great site during this war. Gulf War I put CNN on the map; Gulf War II will put Blogs on the map.

As a reader, and not one of the fine contributors, I have to ask that we all quit whining.

As a reader, I second Cowboy Bob's remarks. Also, as someone who has a job and can't really check in here more than once a day, I'm happy the POW story got reposted, okay? Thanks to all. Keep up the good work and let the children learn to face a little (and I do mean little) adversity on their own.

IT would be better if you just show the references to other posts on this without the "hey, we already..." comments. Just say "Also seen here..."

Interesting how the POWS said that the "executed" POWs were in fact killed in the firefight.
