Troops Discover Lush Saddam Hideaway

From the AP:

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- The doors of the town house opened to reveal a playboy's fantasy straight from the 1960s: mirrored bedroom, lamps shaped like women, airbrushed paintings of a topless blonde woman and a mustached hero battling a crocodile.

Ohmigawd ... how will the Saddam-apologists - I mean, anti-war, peace loving people -- explain THIS away??? I mean, torture and imprisoning children I can understand, but TACKY is too much!!

Tvery thought has infected my brain with awful sights and sounds. I keep seeing a topless buxom blonde singing "Saddy, baby, won't you come down my chimney tonight ... "

Argh!!

And the US went and JDAMed his mojo...

Oh dear, this has to be Saddam's worst nightmare. For a man who imagined himself to be the second coming of Saladin, I imagine there's nothing worse than going down in history as a complete laughingstock, a two-bit, tin-pot Stalin-wannabe of a peasant who could never win a real war and who had all the ostentatiousness of Cesare Borgia but none of the taste.

Blonde woman? Like an American blonde woman? Seems his fantasies are a bit more western than he let on....

A little off-topic, but speaking of Saddam's bitches, has anybody heard from Peter Arnett? I was kind of hoping Ollie North would meet up with him in Baghdad. I haven't heard of his fate.

And the worst part about the whole thing? The couches had those clear plastic slipcovers that make that rude phhtz sound when you sit on them.

The horror. The horror.

Well, plastic slipcovers are better than the alternative: stains on the chesterfield...

Bob, the humiliation is getting to more than Saddam.

Oh, this one was too funny. Thanks, Ravenwood, I'm still laughing.

I guess it was too much to hope he had taste...

I'm glad the palaces were all empty.

What I wonder is, did he torture the decorator before or after this job?

Heh.
