Main Suspects in USS Cole Bombing Escape From Yemeni Prison

Yemeni authorities were hunting for 10 of the main suspects in the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole after they escaped from prison Friday, officials said.

The fugitives, including chief suspect Jamal al-Badawi, had been jailed in the port city of Aden since shortly after the destroyer was bombed, killing 17 American sailors.

I though this was important enough to put up here.

Letting prisoners escape as a political statement, maybe??? I am too cynical this morning, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Coincidence ? I think not.

Think of it as an opportunity for the CIA Predator operators to get some more target practice.

Yep. In prison, they're protected. In the wild, well, hunting season is open, and there's no bag limit....

Mark my words...this was an inside job.  Someone on the inside in Yemen let these guys out to go try to martyr themselves or cause more havoc.

I hope each and everyone of them gets sniped.

This is common practice in the Palestinian jails, why would the Yemenis be any different?

Posted by: beachbum at April 11, 2003 09:52 AM

I'll bet a dollar they "escaped" to Iraq.

Martyrdom, here they come. Let'em have it. How do you let TEN...sorry, how do TEN ESCAPE (?) from prison? PLEEZ! Yeah, right.

Wasn't there some problem with the Yemeni government not allowing the FBI/CIA to proceed down the road of the investigation? Perhaps this is a staged operation so that each one can be run to ground amid his supporters and we might catch more bad guys.

Kinda like following an ant back to the hole so we know where it is and can drop a bomb on it.
