Syria: Saddam's not our responsibility

The United States, not Syria, is responsible for making sure Saddam Hussein and other top leaders of his regime don't escape Iraq by crossing the border into Syria, a top Syrian diplomat said Thursday.

you know, it's not just a Saddam and a few top ministers that are missing. There are about 3 or 4 thousand Ba'th party and gov't people and their families that have vanished, almost into thin air. Certainly overnight.

actually that Imad guy was spinning ..he avoided three times to answer the question whether his regime would grant asylum to Iraqi dignitaries; he said the border with Iraq is guarded by Americans and therefore it is not their responsibility to watch over their Ba'ath brothers who might move here and there from Iraq to Syria..ain't that spinning or what?

It might also be the United States' responsibility to apprehend these very same people Syria almostmakes no secret of aiding and abetting.

Hmmmm. I wonder if the US will seek UN approval for this simple mop-up operation it would take to put the Syrian regime out if *its* misery?
