Poll: Californians believe UN should help reconstruct Iraq

AP -- A Field Poll today says Californians are worried about terrorism after the war in Iraq and believe the U-N should be involved in rebuilding the country.

Nearly 80 percent of respondents to the poll say the United Nations should be involved in postwar reconstruction, either with the United States or by itself.

...

Respondents were split over whether the war would lead to terrorism in the U.S.. Nearly two-thirds of Democrats said they thought it would, while fewer than 25 percent of Republicans thought terrorism would increase.

Who cares what the idiots in CA think?

Move the UN to California. Then let loose the faults.... they'll be begging the rest of the US for help.

Why don't we give California to the Kurds? It could be their much desired Kurdistan.

My husband continually tells me that California is a foreign country that tries to pretend it's a part of the US. If I let him read this article, he will look at me and say, See?

The U.N. should get involved - under the U.S. leadership.

Ooooh! Let's bring in the UN to grab the glory and blame any problems on the coalition! Hurry!

These are the same Californians who put gov. Gray Davis in office and now hate themselves for it. I know, I live there.

Its time tot kick California out of the U.S., probably Oregon and Washington too, but definitely California. Sooner or later they will expect the rest of the country to pay for their irresponsibility. California is like france and Germany. Childish laws and regulations that are steadily gutting their economy. Dump them now!!!!!!!!

OKAY,imbecile,better??

Well, this Californian thinks 80% of the respondents to the pole, besides being idiots, were not even native 49ers, but moved here from where the rest of you live! Will you please call them back home? So there!
Seriously, did any of you notice where the paper running that so called news was published - the least coast, not the best coast. Keep the un-unitied nations out of Iraq!

geez. if I wanted to read ranting like this I'd hang around Free Republic. signal to noise ratio just went way down.

But what do they think OUTSIDE of Berkley?

Posted by: Vince at April 10, 2003 10:48 AM

Most astonishing is the elitist Left's egocentric faith in the UN when that UN is in fact a collection of tyrannies as most nations on this earth are ruled by the few without participation of their own people. Just how is that more trustworthy or reasonable then the United States government?

Posted by: DANEgerus at April 10, 2003 10:49 AM

i am from california. It's a beautiful place. We do have some loud mouths but we are part of the united states. Many Californians are fighting in the war on terror and in iraq. I for one have never been asked to respond to a poll... therefore i do not trust or believe them.

Posted by: gijoe at April 10, 2003 11:16 AM

It's BERKELEY, yet another
brilliant non-Californian!

Posted by: gjs at April 10, 2003 12:03 PM

They should stage a Comic Relief for Iraq benefit and have Baghdad Bob be the MC: "No, that was not funny, Mr. Williams. That is so silly. It is stupid. So far we have not collected $2,341,217 for the people of Iraq."

I hate this state. In fact, pretty much all of the Ninth Circuit. It's quite pretty, but the lack of substance is really getting me down. If only Chicago was warm and had more beaches.

Posted by: Blair at April 10, 2003 12:13 PM

Take a look at the casualty lists from Iraq. There are plenty of Californians on it...

This same Field Poll had a lot more information in it which is NOT included in this story.

63% of Bay Area Residents Support the War

Yep, even in the liberal Bay Area. And for California, it's 75 percent in support.

So let's chill on the anti-California crap. Go after the loonies here, and we surely have them, but let's keep the big picture in mind, shall we?

I live in CA and personally don't believe the poll. I believe that SAN FRANCISCO numbers run like this, but if you take San Diego (large military and military retired population), Orange County (very conservative, home of Nixon) and most of the state outside the two major cities, opinion runs very conservative.

For a comparison, see the county-by-county breakdown of the last election. MOST of the counties in California actually voted republican.

Bottom line is that I would take a close look at how the poll was conducted and how it was reported. I believe this poll was seriously skewed (it both the statistical and metaphorical sense).

Tom Kince quote:

"Its time tot kick California out of the U.S., probably Oregon and Washington too, but definitely California. "

Please...if you must...just include the Greater Seattle area in your group condemnation. They are the far-left liberals of our state!

Anyone east of the Cascades are very conservative, rational minded, PRO-USA and are very proud of our President!

Thanks! ;)

That poll was not only skewed,it should have been skewered too Statler.eh eh eh
