Mass anti-war rally set for Saturday
The Stop The War Coalition says hundreds of thousands of protesters are set to attend a mass rally in London on Saturday. They say the rally will be held to commemorate the people who have died during the conflict. Meanwhile, anti-war groups are organising a meeting in London on May 25 with international lawyers to consider whether members of the British government, including Tony Blair, Jack Straw and Geoff Hoon have committed war crimes. I know the war is not over but it feels over. Since it seems to be over I say it's fine for them to have an anti-war rally. I never opposed the rallies just the desire to stop a war that needed to be finished once it was started. Posted by: alan powell at April 9, 2003 11:39 AM4th ID might be available, but a little ponderous. How about that brigade from 10th Mountain Division that left the States a few days ago? Maybe they can divert. Posted by: Dave Himrich at April 9, 2003 11:40 AMGood. Instead of "we have only begun to fight" it's "we have only begun to make grotesque fools of ourselves". They will fade away and go back to smoking dope once it becomes apparent that nobody is listening. Posted by: NF at April 9, 2003 11:40 AMI'm really puzzled - do these people who are STILL 'anti-war' not SEE the jubilation of the Iraqis?? Or do they hate them so much that they want them to remain forever under Hussein's heel? Orion Posted by: Orion at April 9, 2003 11:41 AMSmart move. Set a stop the war rally for a date past the (mostly) end of the war, and you can claim that it was a huge success. Posted by: BH at April 9, 2003 11:41 AMmaybe they should arrest all the protestors and charge them with the new "beling stupid in public" Law. what morons those type are. Now that's funny. Wanna bet the war will be over by Saturday? I sure hope so, that would be so appropriate. Yeah, we had our own Stop The War rally. About 300,000 attended. Mostly the USMC, US Army, and the Royal Marines. Other honored attendees were present. A unanimous voice vote was taken that the war should be stopped as quickly as possible. And then they did it. Posted by: DSmith at April 9, 2003 11:42 AMI think these folks are part of the "dead enders" that Rumsfeld always talks about. They just don't get it... Posted by: U.S. Cavalry at April 9, 2003 11:42 AMThese protestors do NOT reflect the mood of the UK. Probably a few thousand die-hards will turn out for their ritual whinge. "Move along, nothing to see here " Posted by: JohninLondon at April 9, 2003 11:45 AMGotta love these dim bulbs -- and the "war crimes" crap....whew, if they stay tuned to their TVs, they can see ample evidence of crimes against humanity...guess they don't count as real crimes Posted by: aham at April 9, 2003 11:45 AMIt is a cargo cult thing at work. They will wave their signs and the war will then or soon after officially stop and they will assert their acts as causation. Posted by: D. Amedeo at April 9, 2003 11:46 AMYou must hand it to these guys. They have more guts than the Republican Guard. And fewer brains. Posted by: KIM at April 9, 2003 11:47 AM...and of course, the fight that has been happening for the last 21 days was a fight for freedom. A freedom that exists so that they can protest. In the Baghdad of yesterday, protesters such as these would have been rounded up and shot. Posted by: mik at April 9, 2003 11:47 AMWe freed a children's prison for gods sake. The Iraqi people are cheering, the oppressor gone, FINALLY. What can these "poster children for birth control" possibly want to protest! Forget the white flag ambushes, the civilian dressed soldiers and artillary in the mosques. They want to try the allies for war crimes. These people make me sick. Absoluetly sick. Maybe we should put the kids back in jail while we're still there. Posted by: Phil at April 9, 2003 11:48 AMTalk about a target of opportunity!
