Battle for Baghdad 'far from over'
Allied Central Command has sounded a strong note of caution, saying the war, and the battle for Baghdad, are "far from over." US spokesman Navy Captain Frank Thorp said it would be "extremely premature" to say it's over, and that there may be "many fierce days of fighting" ahead. He added: "We continue to have sporadic and fierce encounters, these are firefights which last minutes rather than hours." He said the small bands of Iraqi defenders were "unable to operate as an organised force" and were being wiped out. Posted By Gabriel Syme (Samizdata) at April 9, 2003 05:57 AM | TrackBackComments
You really have to hand it to some of the looters in Iraq. They loot a building and stack their bounty into a pile. The rule is that no one takes what is in another person's pile. Talk about respect!! Frankly, I think we should let the Iraqi's handle them, but they might be concerned about FOOD right now. Posted by: datarat at April 9, 2003 07:45 AMPost a comment
