Arnett Now With Taiwan TV
Peter Arnett finds another new job Since he was fired by NBC, Arnett has also been reporting for pan-Arab satellite channel Al-Arabiya, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He has also been hired by the private Belgian TV network VTM, the state-run Greek television channel NET, and The Daily Mirror of London, a tabloid vehemently opposed to the war. Jeez, Hey Chief, off topic but your name rings a bell. Were you in Korea around 95-96? Posted by: tenbase at April 7, 2003 12:18 PMNo, Thanks, I wasn't sure. My memory is a little fuzzy from all the soju, but my shop chief in Korea was a SMSgt with a similar name. Carry on! Posted by: tenbase at April 7, 2003 12:29 PMFirst report from him, if you can read Chinese: Arnett is also reporting on one of Italian Prime Minister (and stuanch Bush ally) Berlusconi's news stations, Turkey's quite mainstream Hürriyet newspaper, and dozens of other publications. I would not make much out of this, Fox is after all in a deal with Al Jazeera to use its stuff as well. Being somewhat familiar with Taiwan, I should point out that Taiwan supports the U.S. action, both politically and popularly. This station probably viewed Arnett as an opportunity to get a big name for cheap. Posted by: George at April 7, 2003 12:46 PMTVBS is really a pro-China/anti-US outlet. So are many media left from previous KMT regime. Yes, we are so open to allow such media even when China is THE direct threat to us. Posted by: fromTaiwan at April 7, 2003 12:58 PMI thought Arnett had always worked for TV BS... Posted by: Lou at April 7, 2003 01:09 PMSo, let's ask Peter A. Peter's getting lots more work now since he got fired ... Posted by: Shawn Pickrell at April 7, 2003 03:11 PMPost a comment
