Iraqi TV Shows Saddam Meeting Son, Officials
Reuters>> Iraqi television showed footage on Monday of President Saddam Hussein meeting with top aides after the United States said it stormed into the heart of the capital Baghdad and grabbed two of Saddam's palace compounds. The president, wearing military fatigues, was shown sitting in a room with windows and with wall maps behind him. Also seen present at the meeting were his younger son and heir apparent Qusay, Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan and Deputy Prime Minister Tareq Aziz as well as other senior military officials. The question still remains: "Is it live, or is it Memorex™?" Posted by: aelfheld at April 7, 2003 11:56 AMWe report. You deride. That's my motto and I'm sticking to it. Posted by: michele at April 7, 2003 11:57 AMWere they smiling? Posted by: Babaloo at April 7, 2003 11:57 AMThe president, wearing military fatigues, was shown sitting in a room with windows and with wall maps behind him. In keeping with the Ministry of Information's latest reports, all cities on the maps bore labels reading "winning", "crushing infidel dogs", "winning here too", and "poisoning the zionist invaders". Posted by: apotheosis at April 7, 2003 11:58 AMDid anyone else hear that today is the Anniv of the forming of the Ba'ath party? Why is the Liar of Baghdad trying so hard to make us believe he's still there? If Gulf 1 was "the mother of all wars", is this the "grandmother of all wars"? Hope they weed out all the stock videos that feature Chemi Ali. z Posted by: ziphius at April 7, 2003 12:20 PMUday to Dad -'I've been watching Uncle Sahaaf on Cable and wonder if he might be a possible frontman for a new version of The Weakest Link I'm working on! Posted by: Cockney Rebel at April 7, 2003 12:20 PM"Memories, of the way we were..." It's Memorex(tm). Tareq Aziz in particular has been sorely missed as the frontman ever since that decapitation strike. Baghdad Bob doesn't even come close - and he is not a true insider of the regime anyway. Reuters just can't bring itself to call Saddam what he is. "The president, wearing..." Right. How about "The tyrant, wearing..." Posted by: R.
