CNN - Live report

CNN Correspondent Walter Rodgers is reporting that Coalition Forces are now indicating that all major highways into and out of Baghdad are now under Coalition control.

Rodgers also reports that sporadic Iraqi attacks continue by unorganized forces, and that the attackers are being annihilated as they approach.

Rodgers also relays that US Army officers are indicating that the Russian convoy that came under fire was attacked by Iraqi irregulars, that coalition forces did not fire upon them.

The surreal thing is that this feels less like a war in Baghdad now than like a colossal multi-day police raid. Normal city activities are left to run their course, while only a few "drug kingpins" are ruthlessly hunted.

The 1991Gulf War struck us all as pretty bizarre at the time, but it now seems positively old-fashioned in retrospect. There wasn't even a world-wide web yet, let alone blogs!

Interesting you talk about this stuff...sitting here watching the CBS Baghdad feed, hearing a lot of small arms fire and some artillery (or at least larger explosions) from time to time...and still the traffic goes round and round the traffic circle....

I think the Iraqis attacked the Russian vehicles because they were trying to get their money back for shoddy Russian GPS jammers and night-vision goggles.

I don't want innocents killed, but somehow it's hard to feel sorry for the Russians. They were probably hit with Russian weapons.

George W. told everybody on 9/12/01 that the "War on Terror" was going to be a different style of war. He is exactly correct. We are winning the war. So relax it's under control.
