Ollie tells it all
Oliver North with Marine aviation unit, showing off items found in an Iraqi School cum military outpost - gas mask, atropine injector, discarded uniform, and medical supplies. Some made in Iraq, some made in Jordan, and some, to quote Ollie 'made in, of all places, France. Imagine that.' Posted By Wind Rider at April 3, 2003 11:47 PM | TrackBackComments
Go Ollie! The French should have seen what was coming. We would have let them continue to make money in Iraq had they gone along. We would have looked the other way. All bets off now. As much as they are talking about America making a mistep, they have blundered horribly. This situation has pushed them off the relevence chart in the world. The only reason people will even give them lip service is that they have nukes. Posted by: Patrick Grote at April 3, 2003 11:50 PMFrance is quickly becoming a "rogue nation" I would rather take them out then North Korea. Posted by: FaaQ at April 4, 2003 12:05 AMwhere's the link? Posted by: Billy Pilgrim at April 4, 2003 12:08 AMIs anyone suprised that the weasely French were selling 'contraband'to the Iraqis? Now they are saying that they are in support our efforts in Iraq and want to be involved in the "reconstruc- tion. Of course they will only do it if the UN is in control. I guess that when the Romans named them "Gaul" they knew what they were talking about. Over 150 yers ago Mark Twain said "France has neither summer nor winter, nor morals. France is miserable because it is filled with Frenchmen. Frenchmen are miserable because the live in France". Awfully smart fellow, wouldn't you say? Posted by: Howard at April 4, 2003 12:19 AMI can't believe anyone would listen to anything Oliver North has to say. The American view of itself right now is very different now from everyone else's view of America. A lot of countries - not just France - are frightened by what the U.S. is doing. I'm Canadian, and I hope to hell you beat Saddam now that you've started this war, but here's the rub: I don't trust Bush. I don't trust Rumsfeld. I don't trust Wolfowitz. I think Fox, and to a lesser extent, CNN, are telling Americans what the government wants them to hear. The world is becoming scarier and scarier. That's not Jacques Chirac's fault. This anti-French thing is a jingoistic sidewhow. Posted by: Steve at April 4, 2003 12:24 AMAs a fellow Canadian.... You need to understand the different between a leader (Bush) and a complete pussy (Jean)... Also, the American system has many more checks and balances then the Canadian system... BTW... FU France and Jean... Cynial old man.. FOAD! Posted by: Original Mark at April 4, 2003 12:31 AMIt doesn't surprise me you are Canadian, Stevey. Go hide under your bed, and let the adults take care of the boogie-men for you. Posted by: Poe at April 4, 2003 12:34 AMSteve, I could care less if other nations around the world like us, but all nations should respect our power. Some, like Iraq right now, should fear our wrath. Posted by: 1310nm at April 4, 2003 12:35 AMMy apologies to the few men left in Canada. Posted by: Poe at April 4, 2003 12:35 AMSteve I will start believing the evil empire crap, when we invade your ass for the oil steve -- or 3) without the sanction of the united nations? hopefully its 3, and I submit in that case, that the UN has been a joke when it threatened to use non US troops to enforce its will. (rawanda) (bosnian peacekeepers) or a joke when it threatened not to use US troops (iraq). If you were paying attention we were acting a lot like the UN controlled the US military. What are the benefits to us of this action? (beside an absence of gratitude?) bye -- a ex canadian & dad was RCAF (and he is american, too) Don't get me wrong. When I read news that the war is going well for the British and the Americans, I'm happy. I think Rumsfeld is right when he points out that no one alive has killed more Iraqis than Saddam, and I hope to hell we end up with a democratic peaceful Iraq that's a beacon to the rest of the region. At this point, the oil business in Texas is likely to take it in the ear. The oil business in Texas is likely to be crippled one more time by a collapse of the oil market. Posted by: Dishman at April 4, 2003 12:56 AMGood point, but will the big American oil companies win or lose? Posted by: steve at April 4, 2003 01:00 AMSteve, If you are correct, we have made a stragetic (not tatical) strike aganst terrorism. We have struck their supply lines (which is OUR dependance on THEIR OIL) - and without money, how effective will they be? Posted by: 1310nm at April 4, 2003 01:08 AMOh, and Steve, your country is sitting this one out so kindly STFU. If your country spills no blood and offers no support then what do you have to complain about. You can sit back in your easy chair and snipe at people who make history instead of observing it. Don't worry, if some third world country gets bored and invades you, we might notice and come save you ass (but only after you begged for it). Must be real comfortable with the most powerful nation on earth protecting your sorry ass. Your nation is no more than a spoiled child whining over not controlling the TV remote. Don't worry child, the grown ups will protect you. We will save you from the monsters under your bed. Posted by: 1310nm at April 4, 2003 01:23 AMSteve All analyses I have seen show that the US oil industry actually LOSES from lower oil prices, the likely consequence of this war. Yes - LOSES. You are spouting yet another of the myths that comprise anti-Americanism. Please go away and do some research on this. Go read the Economist or some equivalent journals - stop being spoonfed by left-wing media in Canada.
