Iraqi Red Crescent rejects humanitarian aid shipment
The Iraqi aid organization ordered six truckloads of humanitarian assistance from the Jordan Red Crescent to be returned to Amman. According to a letter, Iraqi Red Crescent will not accept any aid, only condemnations of the American-led coalition's military action. Posted By cranky at April 3, 2003 06:35 PM | TrackBackComments
Sounds like war crimes... refusing food to starving people... Iraqi Red Crescent may need a regime change too... Posted by: TAD at April 3, 2003 06:37 PMIraqi Red Crescent is a member in good standing of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Israel's Magen David Adom isn't. I think what needs changing is the ICRC. Posted by: Robert Crawford at April 3, 2003 06:41 PMI bet they'll happily accept the humanitarian aid sent by their dear friends, the French Posted by: dora at April 3, 2003 06:42 PMNot that the Frecnh have sent anything. How about all of that unused French-manufactured inventory that is starting to pile up on US shelves becuase good Americans won't touch the stuff? Posted by: MO at April 3, 2003 06:49 PMI remember seeing an article, I think here, a few days ago that said a convoy of humanitarian aid was congregating at the eiffel tower, in order to head out as a group to iraq. so... no. the french are sending stuff. Posted by: Billy Pilgrim at April 3, 2003 07:03 PMThe French could send them all the soap they don't have any use for. Posted by: Donnah at April 3, 2003 07:04 PMBilly, in regards to the french humanitarian aid, its approximately 60 tons according to the article in question that mentioned it. Posted by: Valentine at April 3, 2003 07:20 PMI think it was posted here yesterday - the French aid consisted of soap (no kidding) blankets (it gets so cold in Iraq these days) and plastic sheeting (no idea what that was for) and crackers. No wine, cheese or truffles. Posted by: dora at April 3, 2003 08:38 PMPost a comment
