Iraqi TV Shows Saddam Chairing Meeting of Ministers

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi satellite television showed footage on Thursday evening of President Saddam Hussein chairing a meeting. The television announcer said Saddam was discussing the state of Iraqi troops' battle readiness as U.S.-led troops closed in on Baghdad.

The television did not say when the meeting took place, but said those present included Iraq's vice-president and ministers of defense and of irrigation. Saddam, in military uniform, appeared businesslike and calm. Iraqi domestic television showed footage of the Iraqi leader on Wednesday smiling and laughing with members of his cabinet.

A little late to be discussing battle readiness.

It's like watching Nero Fiddle as Rome burns.............
But only on Memorex.

He's really with Peter Arnett sitting on a beach somewhere sipping Margaritas, watching Fox News, reading the Mirror and calling in every now and then to tell them what number tape to video play!! LOL

Showing in the background was CNN. The top story was the Rams winning the Super Bowl.

Saddam is alive, well, and in control? All is lost for the coalition.

Dubya, you had better run back home, and hope the Dixie Chicks will take you back.

Oh good. I was worried they had lost all the tapes in the bombing campaign. I mean, can't they at least get Saddam to say a few words of encouragement, if only to drive the hated mercenaries out of Iraq and re-conquer Kuwait?

Am I the only one to find it curious that Saddy's meeting was held in a room with the curtains behind him bathed in sunlight? Not exactly a safe and secure type of location in the middle of a war, eh?
