Update On Former Russian Generals Consulting To Iraq

Ealier today I posted here a story in Russian online newspaper Gazeta.ru about former Russian generals advising the Iraqi military just days before the war. The page was in Russian, and as you can see in the original post, I had the story confirmed by a Russian contact from St. Petersburg.

The story now appears on the English section of that site, and you can read it here.

Nice research. Well done.

I think it's time for all the international aid institutions that we disproportionately fund to call Russia's outstanding loans. I think most all of them are delinquent and, well, I just don't see them deserving much in the way of credit.

With all of this support from Russia, I don't see how Saddam can win.

Russian military support sucks like a nuclear powered vacuum cleaner on steroids.

Someone should be calling the Better Business Bureau on behalf of the Iraqi government, right about now...

I think a pretty good case could be made for both fraudulent sales and false advertising.

They dropped out of the loop in 1991 and now they are consultants. If you had told me the Russians sent 300 good NCOs, then I'd be concerned.

Good! Let them help Iraq.
Those generals of the former Soviet Union were the ones who got their asses kicked in Afghanistan. The coalition need not worry about them.
